During a cold but bright blue winter day, some friends and I decided to take a hiking trip to Yaji Mountain for some much needed fresh air ans exercise. The climb was a bit difficult on the knees (a loooot of stairs!!) but overall not so bad and definitely well worth the beautiful views from the top. A stunning place and another unforgettable place in China.

365 steps and then more
Yaji mountain is a beautiful mountain with many lovely temples. However it is a lot of steps, go prepared to climb. We did at the end find out there is a bus 😂. The view is breath taking or it was just all the stairs that has us breathless 😂😂😂
Be prepared for many people as well. Best to go in winter or spring, summer would be too hot 🥵 #china #adventure #staycation

Beijing Yaji Mountain Scenic Area | The perfect fusion of nature and faith
The Beijing Yaji Mountain Scenic Area is a historic site that integrates natural landscapes with Taoist culture, located in Liujia Shop Town, Pinggu District, Beijing, about 70 to 80 kilometers from the Beijing city area. Yaji Mountain is named for the two giant rocks on its summit that resemble the hair buns of ancient girls, with an altitude of about 363 to 368 meters and a total area of about 5 square kilometers.
Yaji Mountain has been a Taoist holy land since ancient times. The Bi Xia Yuan Jun Temple on the mountain is a famous Taoist temple in the eastern Beijing area, founded during the Tang Dynasty, experienced through the Liao and Jin Dynasties, flourished during the Yuan and Ming Dynasties, and reached its peak during the Kangxi and Qianlong periods of the Qing Dynasty. During the Kangxi period, the Jade Emperor Pavilion was also built on the mountain, becoming a religious site valued by the royal family. The Yaji Mountain Temple Fair, which began in the Tang Dynasty's Zhenguan period, has a history of over 1,300 years and is one of the four major temple fairs in North China. It is held from the first to the fifteenth day of the fourth lunar month every year, attracting numerous tourists and believers.
The scenic area has many ancient architectural complexes, including the Zixiao Palace, Guanyin Hall, Lingguan Hall, Dongyue Temple, and natural landscapes such as the Twin Pines Welcoming Guests, Returning Fragrance Embracing the Ancient, and Stone Sutra Path. The buildings on the mountain are built along the mountainside, with carved beams and painted rafters, and are very distinctive. In addition, there are forty-eight steps leading directly to the mountain top, and behind the mountain is a cliff with steep scenery.
Yaji Mountain is not only a pilgrimage site for Taoist followers but also a great place for tourists to experience traditional culture and enjoy natural scenery. What to do in Beijing|Escape the city and pray for blessings at a beautiful, lesser-known holy place
What to do in Beijing|Escape the city 🙏 Pray for blessings at a beautiful, lesser-known holy place.
A stunning check-in spot in the suburbs of Beijing! The mountain is not particularly high, but you have to first walk a 365-step prayer staircase. It's not too tiring to walk and take pictures along the way. After reaching the South Heavenly Gate, there will be many temples, which you can look at as you walk. The top is the sparkling golden dome, where you can see the sun at a very close distance. It's incredibly beautiful to take pictures at sunset!
There are two grand buildings on the top of Yaji Mountain, one is the Bixia Yuanjun Shrine located on the west peak, and the other is the Jade Emperor Pavilion on the east peak (the Three Emperors Hall is between the two peaks). Both buildings are built along the mountain and are very steep and spectacular. Among them, Bixia Yuanjun Shrine is a famous Taoist temple in the east of Beijing. It was built in the Tang Dynasty and flourished in the Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties. The 'Yaji Mountain Temple Fair' held from the first to the fifteenth day of the fourth lunar month every year has a history of more than 500 years and is one of the four major temple fairs in North China.

Yaji Mountain
Yaji Mountain is a famous Taoist site in Pinggu, Beijing, and is as famous as Miaofeng Mountain in Mentougou, Beijing. They are two famous Taoist sites in Beijing. Yaji Mountain has two peaks, and Yaji Mountain may be named after this. One peak has a Jade Emperor Pavilion, and the other peak has a temple. Every year on the first day of the fourth lunar month, there is a very lively temple fair, with people coming to offer incense, attend the temple fair, and play, it's crowded with people. There are two ways up the mountain, one is through the main gate and up the mountain through the archway, this way is farther but you can pass several spots. The other is a small road that goes up the mountain through the forest, this way is closer but there is not much scenery. At the foot of the mountain is the place for the temple fair and stalls. When it's lively, various performances are on stage, and the goods are rich and varied, with many local agricultural products (the dried peaches are very delicious). When there are many people, it's hard to park if you go late. Compared with Miaofeng Mountain, it's easier to park.

Avoid the crowd and check in at the unique and beautiful blessing place in the suburbs of Beijing
Yajishan, named for its twin peaks standing tall like the hair buns of ancient girls, flourished in the Yuan Dynasty and thrived in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Four emperors of the Qing Dynasty came to Yajishan 17 times.
-
✅Before entering Yajishan, you can see the 365-step blessing staircase from a distance, which is very spectacular (it's really hard to climb up). After climbing the stairs to reach the South Heaven Gate, you can see the buildings of Yajishan one after another.
✅Dongyue Temple is located on the south side of the middle of Yajishan, and the main hall worships the Dongyue Emperor.
✅Huixiang Pavilion was originally the life temple built by Wei Zhongxian, a eunuch at the end of the Ming Dynasty. When it was not completed, Wei Zhongxian was defeated and it was later rebuilt into Huixiang Pavilion.
✅The Jade Emperor Pavilion on the east peak is a double-eave pointed roof covered with yellow glazed tiles, majestic; the Bi Xia Yuanjun Temple on the west peak is a two-entry courtyard, locally known as the 'Goddess Temple'; the two peaks are connected by the Three Emperors Hall. The beautiful check-in photos of Yajishan that you often see online are here.
✅In addition, there are mountain gates, bell and drum towers, Wanshou Pavilion, etc.
