Natural scenery
Yaba Stream is located in Nakatsu City, Oita Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan. It is located in the middle and upper reaches of the mountains and rivers. It was selected as one of the three new scenic spots in Japan. In 1923, the Japanese government designated this place as a scenic spot. In 1950, the nearby area was further classified as "Yama Hita Hidehikoyama Quasi-National Park". Yaba Stream is a valley in the upper and middle reaches of the Yamakuni River and has been known as a scenic spot since ancient times. The natural landscape of intertwined rocks eroded by the long years is very wonderful. There is also the tunnel "Ao no Domon", which is said to have been dug by monks in the Edo period using chisels and hammers for 30 years, and the "Ichimoku" where you can view 8 major landscapes at the same time. Eight Views", etc., there are many things to see. The autumn leaves are especially beautiful, and there are hot springs along the streams, making it a popular spot for many tourists from inside and outside the prefecture. The area belongs to the calcareous lava terrain, which is cut into valley terrain by water flow, including Ben Yema Stream, Liyema Stream, Deep Yema Stream, and Oyema Stream, all of which are named after Yema Stream.
