Xishuangbanna Dai Park | A family trip is recommended during the off-season.
🌟Dai Park is made up of five Dai villages: Manjiang, Manchunman, Manting, Manzha, and Manga. The park retains some of the natural life of the local people in the village. You can see the wooden houses and courtyards they live in, the food they eat, and the atmosphere of life. It is equivalent to five villages being enclosed 😅. You need a ticket to enter 🎫. The local residents live a normal life, and you can truly experience the life of ethnic minorities ✨
⏰Opening hours: 8:00–18:00
👉Dai Park is very large, so it is recommended to take a sightseeing bus. It is roughly divided into four stops.
1⃣️ Menghan Chunman Temple (Golden Pagoda)
2⃣️ Manting Temple (White Pagoda)
Manchunman Temple has a history of 1,400 years. Although it is not large, the craftsmanship and patterns on the building are very exquisite. You can see the exquisite historical relics. It is a good choice for sightseeing, learning, and taking photos. The White Pagoda of Manting Temple also amazed me. The white pagoda with pearl white paint is very beautiful in photos. The blue sky, green trees, white pagoda, and temple are a perfect combination. Compared with other temples in Xishuangbanna, it is really quiet here, which is very suitable for praying and meditation!
3⃣️Water Splashing Square
First water splashing: 13:30–14:10
Second water splashing: 15:30–16:10
It is recommended to go to the second one, which is more lively and has a better atmosphere. The temperature is suitable, so you won't catch a cold. There is also a Dai dance session. Be sure not to buy water splashing basins or clothes inside. Wear non-slip shoes and bring a change of clothes. Just go into the pool and splash 😂. Don't waste money!
4⃣️Border Wharf
🎫CNY 299/person. Take a yacht to the border wharf ⛵️. The journey is quite exciting. You can eat unlimited fruit inside, and there are various photo spots. It is very OK!

① Arrive at the Dai Ethnic Park at 12:30 PM, enter the scenic area. Stroll around Mangjiang village and the temple at the entrance (which leads to the water-splashing square). Change clothes, store your bags across from the water-splashing square, and wait for the water-splashing event.
② The water-splashing event starts at 1:30 PM and ends at 2:10 PM.
③ There are public baths in the water-splashing square, 20 yuan per person. After washing up and changing into clean clothes, return to the entrance of the scenic area and take a car to start the tour (first ride), estimated to be around 3 PM.
④ The first stop is Manchunman temple. This place is very worth visiting, and the temple is beautiful. Due to time constraints, we did not visit the village. There is also a peacock garden nearby, which I personally find quite ordinary. Pass through the peacock garden to board the car to Manzha (third ride).
⑥ Then take the car to Manting temple, where there are Tabao trees and a white pagoda (fourth ride, which will return to the entrance of the scenic area), and then exit the scenic area.
Please note that at 5 PM, the staff of the electric carts in the scenic area will start to leave work, so make sure not to miss the last cart.
As mentioned above, you can also come earlier, visit the inside villages first (allowing more than two hours), then participate in the water-splashing event, and after it ends, change clothes and go home.

Take a trip to Xishuangbanna and experience the slower pace of life
Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture
Take a trip to Xishuangbanna and experience the slower pace of life.
For the last stop in Yunnan, I chose Xishuangbanna.
Upon arriving in Xishuangbanna, it felt as hot as the weather in Guangdong, but luckily there was a breeze which made it cool when it blew~
On the same day, I chose to visit the Chinese Academy of Sciences Botanical Garden and the Dai Ethnic Park.
The botanical garden is really big, but I only bought a ticket for the eastern area because we were all too lazy to walk, so we chose to ride in an electric cart. For those interested in and knowledgeable about plants, a visit is still quite nice.
The Dai Ethnic Park, just in time for the first water-splashing activity in the afternoon, the atmosphere there was good, and it's only a few hundred meters walk from the water-splashing square to the pier~ I also chose to ride in an electric cart around the Dai Ethnic Park, but if you have time, you can choose to walk and take a leisurely stroll.
On the way back, I stumbled upon the Mekong River Viewing Platform, which is quite niche with not many tourists. Spending 10 yuan on a bottle of water there allows you to go up and enjoy the view, which is quite expansive, and you can take some photos on top.

Xishuangbanna Dai Ethnic Garden | Experience the 'Daily Celebration of the Water-Splashing Festival' and feel the Dai culture
I have finally arrived at the other side of the Anywhere Door - Xishuangbanna.
Xishuangbanna Dai Ethnic Garden is located in Menghan Town (Oliver Dam), southeast of Jinghong City, Xishuangbanna Prefecture. The garden attracts tourists with its charming subtropical courtyard scenery, rich Dai folk customs, typical Dai bamboo house architecture, traditional handicrafts, and the magical culture of Southern Buddhism, earning it the reputation of 'the beauty of peacock feathers'.
Entering the Dai Ethnic Garden, you will see Dai bamboo houses scattered in an orderly fashion, surrounded by coconut trees, areca trees, mango trees, betel palm trees, and phoenix tail bamboo, among other fruit plants, which adorn the bamboo houses with extra charm. The garden consists of 5 well-preserved natural Dai villages: Manjiang (Bamboo Weaving Village), Manchunman (Garden Village), Manzha (Chef Village), Manga (Market Village), and Manting (Royal Garden Village), totaling 326 households. Here, the exquisite Dai bamboo houses and ancient Buddhist pagodas are nestled among the greenery, exuding a sense of nature, purity, and tranquility. The spectacular and beautifully ancient Buddhist temples and pagodas signify the long history of Buddhism and their extraordinary status in the hearts of the Dai people.
The most important festival for the Dai people of Xishuangbanna is the Water-Splashing Festival, and in the Dai Ethnic Garden, the 'Daily Celebration of the Water-Splashing Festival' gathers thousands of people in the water-splashing square, splashing water on each other, where you can feel an incredibly lively atmosphere.

Live well, every day comes with new challenges
Dai Ethnic Garden
The Dai Ethnic Garden is located at the Olive Dam by the Lancang River in Xishuangbanna, consisting of five Dai villages, each with its own Buddhist temple. Among them, the Manchunman Buddhist Temple is listed as the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units, which is particularly exquisite and spectacular. It's best to visit the garden early when there are fewer people, allowing for an immersive experience in the Dai culture.
Unless you are elderly or with children, it is not recommended to take a vehicle; walking in the garden is a pleasure.
There is a dazzling array of snacks, with the tiny corn being very tasty, and 2 yuan can buy 6 bananas, which are truly 'fragrant' bananas.

Xishuangbanna | Dai Ethnic Garden·Daily Water-Splashing Festival Carnival
Transportation🚐: We chartered a car for 120 yuan round trip, there are also high-speed trains but only two trips, so plan your time well. We intended to take a shuttle, but after waiting at the bus station for about half an hour, we saw no bus coming.
Ticket🎫: 45 yuan for adults, 22.5 yuan for students, 40 yuan/person for the sightseeing car, which is quite necessary. The Dai Ethnic Garden operates on a model of farmers + tourism developers, consisting of five villages. The park is quite large, and the main attractions are not concentrated, mostly consisting of farmers' houses. However, if you want to experience the local dwellings or the characteristics of Dai villages, walking is an option. The scenery is beautiful, and along the way, residents sell their own farm products, with local fruits being quite famous.
Water-Splashing💧: The water-splashing times are at 13:30 and 15:30, with the water being warmer in the second round. Plan your time accordingly, and if you want to participate, bring a change of clothes and disposable towels for convenience.
⚠️: As the visit takes a long time, bring some food to replenish energy. You can bring your own small basin for water-splashing or buy one there, which seems to be 5 yuan each.
When we went to the Dai Ethnic Garden, we just wanted to participate in the water-splashing, but it turned out to be quite fun. The border wharf is also worth visiting to see the small town across the Lancang River and Northern Myanmar behind the mountains, although we did not take a boat. The stilted buildings and residential buildings of the Dai people also have their own unique charm.
