Xilinhot is situated in Inner Mongolia in the center of the Xilingol Grassland. The city is one of Inner Mongolia's most popular tourist destinations and is home to a number of well-preserved natural habitats and grasslands. Major attractions include the Xilingol Grassland Nature Reserve, the famous plant oasis Huitengxile Grassland and Zhage Sitai Nao'er Lake. The region is home to 17 different ethnic groups.
