Lanzhou Xiguan Grand Mosque is located at No. 1 Cuiyingmen, Chengguan District, Lanzhou City. It was first built during the Hongwu or Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty. Because believers often came here to participate in religious activities, it was called the "Guest Mosque". This mosque has undergone many reconstructions and renovations in history. It was rebuilt in the 26th year of Emperor Kangxi's reign in the Qing Dynasty, rebuilt in the 7th year of Emperor Yongzheng's reign, and rebuilt again in the 9th year of Emperor Jiaqing's reign. It was also expanded and renovated later. Reconstruction began on the original site in 1983, and the new mosque was completed in April 1990. The existing buildings consist of a main prayer hall, a small prayer hall, a lecture hall, and dormitories. The main hall is a 4-story circular building with an area of 3,000 square meters. It can accommodate more than 3,000 people for worship at the same time and has a total height of about 37 meters. From the air, the building has both Islamic style and Chinese architectural layout elements. The ground floor has offices, lecture halls, dormitories, bathrooms, etc. The upper three floors are the prayer hall. The hall is circular in plan and the interior orientation is cleverly designed to face the direction of the "Kaaba".
