Getting There - You can take the train, bus or a DiDi when going to Xichong. Attractions - There are the four main beaches as well as the freshest seafood restaurants, bars, and little shops to buy souvenirs from. Hotels - Xichong has a lot of different types of accommodation. I usually book at one of the four that I usually book at just because the locations are extremely convenient for getting around especially if you hire a scooter to scoot around with. Food & Restaurants - There are loads of fresh seafood restaurants. GWILD and comet has got some good food on their menus also. Shopping - unfortunately I haven’t seen any malls in xichong however there are little shops on every corner where you can buy beach things and souvenirs from. #beachlifeisthebestlife

Took a sneaky spontaneous trip for two days to Xichong with some friends. We stayed at this cute little hotel which was very close to everything. Walking distance to the beach, bars and good restaurants. The first night we went to a local seafood restaurant where the locals were very happy to host us. The freshest seafood I’ve had in a long time if I must say so myself. The next day, we went for a Thai breakfast and head off to the beach for the entire day. Finished the day of with some snack platters and cocktails before heading back to the hotel for a nap. When we woke up we were all craving a juicy burger. GWILD is the place to go if you want good western food in xichong. We ended the night playing a few rounds of CLUEDO and having a few Coronas. Last morning we went to a place called Comet for brunch and headed back to Shenzhen. It was a much needed staycation!

Xichong has one of Shenzhens most vibrant beaches. Located in Nan’ao county in Dapeng, it’s a true staycation made for those summer days! Getting There - from the city you can take a bus - E11 & M232 ¥13 (+3 hour drive) or a cab +-200rmb (1h40m drive), it’s better to get a cab though. Attractions - beach, surf clubs, go karting, BBQ, KTV etc.. Hotels - there is one hotel in this area but many home stays, the best place to stay is near 4th beach. Food & Restaurants - local food is available at every corner, there are currently 2 places which serve western food, they are; OffShore and Comet’s Brunch. Both have good food options. Shopping - many beachwear street shops in the area.

A while ago, I took advantage of my free time and set off from Taiwan with a few friends and headed straight to Xichong, Shenzhen, to check out this famous beach and wave spot in Guangdong. Although Xichong has always been famous as a "leisure beach" in the past, with the gradual rise of surfing in Guangdong, it has also become a good place for many local players to practice basic techniques and practice surfing on small waves. Terrain and wave conditions Xichong has a gentle beach slope, fine and clean sand, and little change in seabed topography, so the waves are generally gentle and the lines are complete. What we encountered this time was a small low pressure passage. The wave height was about waist to chest height (0.8m ~ 1.2m), and the period was short, about 7 to 8 seconds. It was a typical southeast-facing small period wave. We went into the water at around 9:30 in the morning, which coincided with a slight ebb tide after a high tide. The waves were relatively clean and the thrust was moderate, which was especially suitable for longboarders, funboarders, and beginners who wanted to practice take-off stability. If shortboard players want to make sharper turns, they may feel that the waves are not strong enough, but there are still many refreshing small sections to cut into. It’s a pity that this place is restricted by the protected area, and the division of the surfing area is rather rigid, so it’s easy to get stuck when there are a lot of people. Surfing atmosphere The atmosphere in Xichong is more casual, and the surfing culture is just starting out. Most of the people who come here are surfing beginners and photography enthusiasts. There are several small surfing schools on the beach that provide board rentals and basic teaching at reasonable prices (half-day board rental is around RMB 100). If you bring your own board, there are also flushing facilities on site, but the hardware equipment is still a bit rudimentary compared to mature wave spots in Taiwan such as Jinshan. Precautions • The peak season (May to October) is very crowded, especially on holidays. Basically, you have to compete with five or six people for one wave. It is recommended to come on weekdays or early morning. • Affected by the southeast monsoon, the wave conditions are most stable from May to August. In winter, the northeast monsoon often affects the waves, the waves are more chaotic and the water temperature is cold, so you need to wear cold-proof clothing. • The on-site accommodation and meals are simple. It is recommended to bring your own drinking water, sunscreen and snacks. The "one-day round trip" is the smoothest itinerary. summary If you are looking for a place to relax and practice the basic skills of take-off and cutback in small waves, Xichong is worth a visit. It has been named one of "China's Most Beautiful Coastlines" by National Geographic! The entire hike follows the coastline, and the scenery along the way is absolutely stunning. Islands, reefs, sea-eroded rocks, and various other coastal landforms are everywhere. As you hike, you'll be treated to endless blue ocean views, making for a truly enjoyable experience. The route starts from Dongchong and ends at Xichong, passing by the Shenzhen Astronomical Observatory along the way. The observatory's boardwalk is a stepped path that leads directly to Chuanbiyan Rock below. Route Overview📋： With a two-star difficulty rating, this is a moderately leisurely route with four-star scenery👍. The entire route is about 7 km long, with a total elevation gain of about 200 m and a maximum elevation of 146 m. At a normal pace, it takes about 5 hours to complete.
