This temple, which was built in the early Tang Dynasty, is the largest temple in Fujian, preserving historical buildings from the Tang and Song Dynasties, including the East and West Towers. Standing here, it seems as if you can hear the echoes of history. 🌈Old street style, all in sight🌈 Then, we strolled on West Street, the most intact ancient street in Quanzhou city. Along the way, we saw a large number of buildings with historical original appearance, as if we had traveled back to ancient times. The main road is now a pedestrian street, and the dazzling array of snacks and delicacies is even more unforgettable. Xiangfeng Lane, located behind the East Tower of Kaiyuan Temple, has a strong local life atmosphere, feeling the ordinary and comfortable life of the locals. 💫Wishing heaven, experiencing folk culture💫 Finally, we arrived at Xiaoxi Cheng, a small market full of wishing cards. Bai Yansong's words are on the wall here, which is deeply touching. In the end, we came to Youli Coffee Shop, and the rooftop is the classic net red shooting spot for the Twin Towers. As China's trade center during the Song and Yuan dynasties and the starting point of the Maritime Silk Road, Quanzhou's unique cultural symbols are deeply touching. Walking through the streets and alleys of Quanzhou, you will see buildings in the styles of various overseas countries lined up one after another, as if traveling through the space and time of history. This time I brought my two kids to Quanzhou, and I’d like to share some travel tips with you. 🗓Itinerary: This time we arranged a two-day itinerary in Quanzhou. After arriving in Quanzhou on the first morning, we went straight to the most famous West Street. Kaiyuan Temple is located at the starting point of West Street. It is free to visit and no reservation is required. The most famous here are the East and West Pagodas. Having gone through hundreds of years of vicissitudes, the two pagodas can be seen along the entire West Street. After coming out of Kaiyuan Temple, you will officially step onto West Street. The entire street is filled with various local delicacies, snacks and cultural and creative stores. What you must do is to take pictures of the East and West Twin Towers of Kaiyuan Temple from the rooftop. Here are a few places recommended. One is the tourist center on West Street, which is not far from the starting point of West Street. The rooftop is free to go and is closest to the twin towers. However, the disadvantage is that it is not easy to take pictures because it is too close. Refer to Figure 8. It is recommended to check in and take photos on the rooftop of Meichaochuang Drink Shop, where the view is the best. Please refer to the cover photo and Figures 3 and 4. You need to buy drinks from the store to go up to this rooftop, but the cups are very stylish and suitable for checking in. 🌟Highlights: There are many small alleys along West Street, which are actually very nice to visit and great for taking photos. See Figures 6 and 7 for reference. Among them, the most famous one is Xiaoxicheng, and the famous words left by Bai Yansong can also be seen here. At the end of West Street is the famous clock tower, which is very distinctive and combines the clock 🕤 and traffic lights 🚥, which is very creative. Starting south from the bell tower, you will arrive at Zhongshan Middle Road, a complex of arcade-style buildings. Refer to Figures 14 and 15, and any shot you take will turn out to be a blockbuster. 🍽Dining recommendations: There are many delicious foods in Quanzhou. You can eat them while walking along West Street. Handmade glutinous rice cakes, roasted pork dumplings, earthworm jelly, and taro cakes are especially recommended. I would also like to recommend the noodle soup from Guozai Old Store on Shuimen Street, which is the first choice for breakfast. There are also many small shops selling local specialty breakfasts on Shuimen Street, which are very down-to-earth and much more cost-effective than the shops on West Street. There is also a famous chicken leg skewers restaurant. It is recommended to try it for dinner. The owner is very unique, the decoration in the store is very old-fashioned, the taste of the skewers is super good, and it is said that the owner has an exclusive secret sauce recipe. 🚉Transportation strategy: The transportation in Quanzhou is still very convenient. Xiaobai electric cars are especially recommended. Refer to Figures 19 and 20. They can be driven within the old city area. They will stop when you wave. It costs 2 yuan per person and 8 yuan for chartering. The most invincible thing is that you can book a car directly on the Xiaobai rental app, which is really convenient. In addition to the attractions mentioned above, the Guanyue Temple, Confucian Temple, Qingjing Mosque, etc. scattered in the old city are also worth visiting, especially the night view of Guanyue Temple is very photogenic. One day is basically enough to visit the old town. The next day we went directly to Haopu Village to experience the unique local folk culture and special oyster houses.
