Make a day trip and come for a hiking adventure at Minhou Wuhu Mountain
Minhou Wuhu Mountain can be considered a treasure trove for hiking enthusiasts in Fuzhou! There's not just one route to choose from, but many routes that can be connected and arranged according to one's own strength and interest. You must try it if you have the chance.
This time, I recommend one of the hiking routes, rush on the holidays
⭕ Wuhu Mountain Hiking Route
From Huangtubian Village in Minhou, Fuzhou -- Wulingyan Zen Temple - White Tiger -- Suihu Mountain --- Tiger Cub -- Shaigucheng -- Jiuxian Temple -- Xiaojiadao Bus Station
Ps: There are multiple entrances for hiking Wuhu Mountain. For beginners, it is highly recommended to start from Huangtubian Village, go up the mountain via Wulingyan Zen Temple, and continue to Jiuxian Temple. From Jiuxian Temple, follow the wide mountain road directly to Xiaojiadao. This way, even if you can only descend the mountain in the evening, at least the road down is much safer!
⭕ Wuhu Mountain Hiking Precautions
After reaching Jiuxian Temple, beginners should definitely take the main road directly down to Xiaojiadao. Do not think about heading towards Lion Head Peak, as this section of the road is currently less traveled, with weeds taller than a person, and the mountain path is deserted, making it impossible to find the way! We were delayed here for half an hour, unable to find the way, and ultimately had to give up. We asked the person in charge at Jiuxian Temple and descended the mountain via the main road to Xiaojiadao!
⭕ Wuhu Mountain Hiking Preparation
The section of the road from Wulingyan Zen Temple to White Tiger is relatively difficult to walk, with narrow paths that only allow one person to pass, and weeds on both sides that are even taller than a person. In the summer and autumn seasons, you may encounter various snakes and insects, so it is recommended to wear long sleeves, long pants, hats, walking sticks, and suitable hiking shoes!
A power bank is a must-have to prevent your phone from running out of battery!
Be sure to download offline maps, as there will be no signal near Shaigucheng!
For those hiking Wuhu Mountain for the first time, you can download the outdoor app: Liuzhijiao, which will help you follow the trail and basically not get lost. Be sure to refer to the latest route, don't do archaeology!!!
⭕ Best Photo Spots on Wuhu Mountain Hiking
The best photo spots during the Wuhu Mountain hike are also at the beginning of the route, especially near White Tiger, with giant rocks, reed marshes, and cityscapes, all making for excellent backgrounds!
⭕ Time Required for Wuhu Mountain Hiking
Hiking time varies from person to person. Our full journey of 13.23 kilometers took about 7 hours, with nearly a third of the time spent taking photos; it is recommended to start climbing from Huangtubian Village as early as possible in the morning, aiming to start by 9 am.
⭕ Is Self-Driving Recommended
If you self-drive to Huangtubian Village according to our route, after descending the mountain to Xiaojiadao, you will have to take a bus to Shanggan Town, and then from Shanggan Town, take a ride back to Huangtubian Village to retrieve your car.
Cars can be parked 50 meters inside the archway of Huangtubian Village, then walk up the mountain. It is not recommended to park your car further inside at Wulingyan Zen Temple or Zhengji Temple, as the mountain roads are steep and only have one lane.
If you have time on the holidays, then go into the mountains and have fun.
