It is best to go there at sunset, when you can see the most beautiful panorama of St. Wolfgang. The viewing point is on the grassy slope behind the town, about a twenty-minute walk away. For accommodation, I recommend the guesthouse Seehaus family Leifer, which is reasonably priced and well-located, with most rooms offering a lake view. The guesthouse is clean, beautiful, and fully equipped, and the staff are very friendly. The guesthouse has its own small pier, where you can swim in the lake at any time, and the view from the pier is also very nice. Every evening we would sit on the pier and watch the sunset. The guesthouse offers free boats and paddleboards, and it only takes half an hour to row to the opposite shore. Those who like water sports will definitely love it. The guesthouse is within walking distance to the main pier and the train to Mount Schafberg, and it's only a ten-minute walk to the town. When you have nothing to do, you can take a boat to nearby towns such as St. Gilgen, which is also a very beautiful town. Staying here, you don't need to book train tickets in advance; if the weather is good, just go to the ticket office in the morning and pick a time. Climbing Mount Schafberg, it takes about 35 minutes by mountain train to reach the summit, where you can see the panorama of seven lakes if the weather is good. The Hotel Schafbergspitze at the summit is Austria's oldest mountain hotel, with a restaurant on the ground floor that serves decent food, albeit a bit salty. St. Wolfgang has many historic cafes worth experiencing. Kaffeewerkstatt, nearly a century old, is a stylish coffee shop famous for its coffee, and we also had a very delicious black sesame cake there. Bakery-Patisserie Gandl is a bakery with over two hundred years of history, where every morning a lady in traditional Austrian dress delivers various breads, and many locals go there to buy. Check out Hallstatt, the world-famous paradise town just over thirty minutes' drive from St. Wolfgang. Taking half a day to visit is a nice vacation experience, starting from the parking lot, you can see all the classic angles by walking from the southernmost to the northernmost side in half an hour. The lake fish from Lake Wolfgang, with its top-quality water, is a must-try, and it is one of the few places in Europe where you can taste delicious lake fish. The ice cream from Gelateria-Stella is the best in town. If you are driving, you can also explore the surrounding area, like we went to Schwarzensee Lake on the mountain, and had pork knuckle and apple pie at a farm restaurant by the lake, which was very enjoyable. Then, in the town of Ried, we discovered a mysterious ice cream machine, Stella Eis-automat, where you can buy very delicious local green apple ice cream from St. Wolfgang. Next to the children's playground, there is also a group of Austrian characteristic black and white goats.

Austria has so much to offer, one can easily spend weeks in this small but mighty country! Lakes: Austria is known for its beautiful teal lakes with amazing views. Hallstatt is the most famous lake with a postcard view of the town attached to the lake. The church in town is a beautiful and tall honey-hued building that can be spotted a mile away. We choose to stay in Grundlsee because of its famous hotel attached to the lake. MODI Resort Grundless was fully booked when we arrived. Its easy to see why, the hotel is on a hill overlooking the lake, allowing guests to take in the vastness of the lake from a vantage point. Every room in this hotel comes with a kitchen and traditional decoration with unique carpets and curtain. It make me feel like I was living in a storybook. This hotel is expensive during holidays The most exciting attraction was the SchafbergBahn up to Schafberg. The steam train slowly carried passengers up the hill and we arrived at this beautiful peak surrounded by all 7 major lakes in the area. Once the fog cleared, the mountain offered a panoramic view of the entire lake area with teal lakes glistening under the sun. The train ticket is quite expensive, around 40 euros round trip but highly recommended!

St. Gilgen Slow Time St. Gilgen and St. Wolfgang are also built on Lake Wolfgang, but because St. Wolfgang has Schaffer Hill, it is more famous than St. Gilgen. From St. Gilgen you can take a boat directly to St. Wolfgang, a 40-minute boat ride. If you drive by yourself, it will take about 20 minutes. Because of this, St. Gilgen appears to be better and quieter, with fewer tours. By car, you can park your car at the entrance to the St. Gilgen cable car for free. Get off the train and walk through the center of the town to the lake. Just happened to meet the market in the town, what to sell, flowers, cheese, roast chicken and clothes and daily necessities.
