Westminster Bridge spans the Thames in London, England, connecting the City of Westminster and the Lambeth district of London. It is one of the most iconic buildings in London and an important transportation hub on the Thames. The bridge was built in 1739. It was designed and built by Charles Labellier at the beginning. It adopts a five-arch stone bridge structure. It has gone through the vicissitudes of time and witnessed the development and changes of London for hundreds of years. However, the early bridge was demolished and rebuilt in 1862 due to design defects. The Westminster Bridge we see today was designed by engineer Thomas Page and completed in 1862. It is 252 meters long and 26 meters wide. It is built of cast iron and stone, has nine arches, and has a magnificent appearance. The bridge is decorated with blue, white and red, showing a strong British style. The bridge is not only a thoroughfare for vehicles and pedestrians, but also a viewing point for enjoying the beautiful scenery of London. Standing on the bridge, you can look east to the Tower Bridge of London, and west to the iconic buildings such as the London Eye, Big Ben (now known as the Elizabeth Tower) and the Houses of Parliament.
