Takbat Ceremony: A Quiet Morning in Luang Prabang
#getgoing2025
One of the most unforgettable experiences I had in Luang Prabang was watching the Takbat ceremony. Every morning, monks walk through the streets in silence, collecting alms from the local people. There’s this deep sense of reverence, and you can’t help but feel humbled watching it all unfold. The whole thing is peaceful and reflective, and I remember just standing there, soaking in the silence and the spirituality of the moment. It’s one of those experiences that makes you appreciate the simple, profound beauty of a place.

Wat Saensukharam, Luang Prabang
#Laos attractions Wat Saen Sukharam is located on Xieng Thong Road, Luang Prabang, Laos.
Wat Saen Sukharam was built in 2261 by Ta Chao Rang during the reign of King Kisarat. The name of Wat Saen comes from the 100,000 kip donated as the initial capital for construction. It has been renovated twice today, the first time in 2475 and the second time in 2500. It was decorated with gold leaf by craftsmen from Luang Prabang in the 20th century.
The sim is a Vientiane-style sim, meaning it is tall, but the roof is layered like the sim of Luang Prabang, and the roof in the center is added like the sim of Xieng Kwang. The pillars are octagonal and the tops of the pillars are shaped like lotus petals. The decorations are decorated with gold on a red background. Inside, there are images of the past Buddhas, Buddha footprints, and a pagoda. #wattosann
