🏡 Wat Prasat was established in 1492 during the reign of Phaya Yod Chiang Rai. Since the temple is located in the area where the nobility and officials resided, it has been well-maintained over the years. 🏠 In 1823, during the reign of Chao Luang Tham Langa, Wat Prasat was renovated and the Viharn (main hall) was built. The important and interesting features within the temple are as follows: 🏡 The Ubosot (ordination hall) was renovated during the reign of Phaya Sam Lan. Inside, there is the Phra Chao Muen Thong, a bronze Buddha statue in the Mara Vichaya posture, cast by Phaya Luang Saen Kham in 1590. 🛕 The Chedi (stupa) is a blend of the square-shaped Sukhothai style and the round-shaped Chiang Mai style. Phaya Luang Sam Lan presided over its renovation in 1823. 🏠 The Viharn is in the Lanna style, with Naga (serpent) stairs leading up to the building. The front of the Viharn is adorned with stucco patterns and colored glass. Inside, there are murals on a red lacquer background depicting the life of the Buddha. 🛕 Inside the Viharn, there is a large Khong arch known as Gu Phra Chao, which is rare to find nowadays. It houses the principal Buddha image, a stucco Buddha in the Mara Vichaya posture with a serene face. Wat Prasat's timeless Buddhist architecture lent an aura of sanctity to the place, and the absence of throngs of tourists allowed for a more personal connection with its serenity. Inside, a magnificent Buddha statue took center stage, and I couldn't resist joining my hands in prayer, seeking blessings for a safe journey. Adjacent to the temple, a shaded pathway was adorned with trees, providing a cool and inviting spot for visitors to rest and take respite from the sun. It was here that I engaged in a heartfelt conversation with some locals, exchanging stories and experiences before bidding farewell to this tranquil haven. #ThailandTravel A small temple on the upper side of Wat Phra Singh. Judging from the faded color of the pillars inside the temple, it is a beautiful temple that is quite old. People who enjoy temples or old buildings will be satisfied. The vinyl of the Naga at the temple entrance is also falling off a lot..I think this is the first time I've seen this here.
