Wat Pramot: An Ancient Temple in Samut Songkhram
🙏 Wat Pramot is an ancient temple with an unknown founding date. It had been abandoned for a long time until Phra Khru Wimonkiat restored and rebuilt it, with Phra Athikan Roek as the first abbot.
🏰 Subsequent abbots continued the restoration and construction, making Wat Pramot complete in terms of buildings and the practices of monks and novices.
🏰 Wat Pramot is now a clean and beautiful temple, well worth a visit. It was officially established in 1898 and received its consecrated boundary in 1953.
Key attractions to see and worship at the temple include:
🏰 The new ordination hall, built in 1952, houses the principal Buddha image, an ancient red sandstone Buddha in the meditation posture, brought from the abandoned Wat Inprasert and named Phra Inprasert.
🏰 The Mondop-style vihara, which is very beautiful, houses Phra Sri Ariya Mettraiya, known locally as Luang Pho To, a sacred and highly revered Buddha image.
🏰 The pavilion commemorating King Chulalongkorn (Rama V).
🏚 The Tripitaka Hall, an old and beautiful teakwood Thai-style building situated in the middle of a pond.
🏚 The bell tower, which is also in a beautiful Thai style.
