Wat Phutthathiwat is the only royal temple in Betong District. This historic temple has been a part of Betong for a long time and houses the sacred relics of the Buddha, located on the third floor of the Phra Maha Chedi Phra Phutthatham Prakat. It is the largest Sri Vijaya-style religious site in southern Thailand. The golden chedi is stunningly beautiful and can be admired from all sides. Inside the temple is the Maha That Chedi Phra Phuttha Thammaprakat, built in a modified Srivijaya style, bright gold, 39.9 meters high. Inside is the relics of the Lord Buddha. It was built to honor Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, on the occasion of her 60th birthday.
