Address - Phra That Lampang Luang, Hang Chat District, Lampang Province
Atmosphere/Location - We stopped by to see the horse-drawn carriage, the symbol of Lampang Province, and the culture from the traces of Phra That Lampang Luang. We drove from Lampang city for 20 minutes and arrived at noon. The sun was very hot, but when we arrived, we had to go all the way. We took pictures of the entrance and the interior. It is old and beautiful. There is also a place to worship and pray inside. Let me tell you the history of Wat Phra That Lampang Luang. The history is that in the year 2275, Lampang was vacant from a ruler and there was chaos. At that time, Burma was powerful and had the ability to control the entire Lanna Kingdom. Burma occupied Chiang Mai and Lamphun by appointing the rulers of the cities to be under the rule of the Burmese king. Thao Mahayot, the ruler of Lamphun, led his forces to seize Lampang and set up a camp inside Wat Phra That Lampang Luang. At that time, Nan Thip Chang, a villager from Pong Yang Khok (now in Hang Chat District), a hero of Lampang people, gathered his troops to fight against the army of Chao Mahayot by sneaking into the temple. And used a gun to shoot Thao Mahayot to death, and defeated the Lamphun army. Currently, there are still bullet marks on the brass fence surrounding the Phra That Chedi. Later, Nan Thip Chang was established as Phraya Sulawaluechai Songkhram, the ruler of Lampang and the ancestor of the Na Lampang family, the seven descendants of Na Chiang Mai, Na Lamphun, Na Nan. If you pass through Chiang Mai by car, don't forget to stop by and see it.
