Wat Phra Kaew, Chainat
Wat Phra Kaew, Chai Nat Province
It is an ancient temple. Inside the temple is the "Queen of Stupas in Southeast Asia", which is a high Lavo style stupa mixed with Dvaravati art. The late period, the base of the chedi is a reduced wooden pedestal, a mix of Sukhothai and Srivijaya art. In front of the stupa, there is a Luang Pho Chai shrine, and behind the Buddha image is a carved lintel.
The main stupa at Wat Phra Kaew has the same style as some stupas in Suphan Buri, such as the Wat Phra Rup stupa, showing the close connection between the two cities. There is probably no single stupa that is a prototype for the construction or is not in the evolutionary line of any stupa type, but was built by removing stupa components from various stupas and modifying them to be a single piece. The stupa components, Buddha images, and patterns also show styles related to the art of various communities, including Sukhothai art, such as the front arch, but the most prominent are Hariphunchai art and Lanna art, especially stupa components, such as the square stupa and the top, as well as the Buddha image inside the chariot.
