Wat Pa Dara Phirom
Wat Pa Dara Phirom is located behind Mae Rim District Office and Dararasmi Camp, Rim Tai Subdistrict, Mae Rim District, Chiang Mai Province. It is a third-class royal temple, ordinary type, and is the seventh royal temple in Chiang Mai, which reflects the uniqueness of Lanna architecture very well. The atmosphere is shady and quiet, suitable for making merit and worshiping Buddha to calm and clear the mind. Originally, the area of Wat Pa Dara Phirom used to be an abandoned cemetery located near Suan Chao Sabai in the area of Phra Tamnak Dara Phirom of Chao Dararasmi. However, after Phra Khru Winai Thon Man Phurithatto, or more commonly known as Luang Pu Man Phurithatto, wandered to stay and practice meditation at this cemetery because it was a quiet place suitable for developing mindfulness, later more monks came to practice meditation. When the villagers passed by, they became devoted and joined forces to build a temple called Wat Pa Wiwek Chittaram or Wat Pa Rerai was offered for use in religious activities.
Later in 1941, Chao Ladakam Na Chiang Mai, the heir of Chao Dara Rasmi, donated the land in the royal palace area of Chao Dara Rasmi to the temple and changed the name to Wat Pa Dara Phirom, which is still the case today.
