Visit Wat Nang Chi, Bangkok, an ancient temple from the middle Ayutthaya period.
Wat Nang Chee Chotikaram is a temple built in the middle Ayutthaya period. It has been renovated continuously, but the most prominent one was during the reign of King Rama I by Chinese traders who came to trade and live in Siam (Thailand). The style of art is Chinese.
Until the reign of King Rama III, it was renovated again by demolishing everything and building a new temple. The style of the chapel does not have a gable, bai raka, and hang hong, which is the art style that was popular during the reign of King Rama III. Another temple with similar styles can be seen at Wat Thepthidaram, which is the temple where Sunthorn Phu was ordained.
Inside the chapel of Wat Nang Chee, there is a Buddha image in the meditation posture, the principal Buddha image, as well as an ancient and beautiful mural painting of a gathering of angels. Beside the chapel is a chapel where an ancient and beautiful Buddha image in the Pali Lai posture is enshrined.
Another tradition that has continued to this day at Wat Nang Chee is the bathing of the Buddha's relics. The temple will hold a ceremony to invite the relics to be placed on a pavilion in a boat, then parade along Khlong Dan, along the Chao Phraya River, and then return to Wat Nang Chi as before. This is done on the 2nd waning day of the 12th lunar month of every year (between November 12-14). It is called the Wat Nang Chi Boat Procession or the Procession of the Relics.

Wat Nang Chi Chotikaram
🏡Wat Nang Chi Chotikaram is a third-class royal temple, believed to have been built in the mid-Ayutthaya period.
😣According to legend, Chao Phraya Phichit Chaimontri, Phraya Ruechai Narong, and Ok Luang Sena Sunthorn built this temple because Chao Phraya Phichit Chaimontri's daughter, named Im, fell ill for unknown reasons.
🙏Chao Phraya Phichit Chaimontri dreamed of a white-robed monk who told him to make a vow. If his daughter recovered, he would ordain her as a nun. When his daughter recovered, he fulfilled his vow by ordaining her and building the temple.
🏰The temple later became abandoned until the reign of King Rama I, when Phraya Choduek Ratchasetthi (Thian), a Chinese merchant, restored it. The temple's architectural style thus has Chinese characteristics and was dedicated as a royal temple.
🏰King Rama I named it Wat Nang Chi Chotikaram.
🏰During the reign of King Rama III, Phraya Ratchanuchit (Chong) restored the temple again in the royal style of King Rama III.
🙏The important relics are the Buddha's relics and the Arahant's relics, which are enshrined in a glass stupa at the temple since 2082 BE by Mae Chi Im.
🏞Wat Nang Chi Chotikaram hosts the annual Buddha Relic Procession on the 2nd waning day of the 12th lunar month. It is the only temple in Bangkok to hold this merit-making event.
