Mangkon Kamalawat Temple (Leng Noei Yi Temple) | Bangkok
Wat Mangkon Kamalawat or Wat Leng Noei Yi (simplified Chinese: 龙莲寺, pinyin: Lóng lián sì, Hokkien: Leng liansi, Teochew: Leng noei yi, Cantonese: Lung lin ji, Hakka: Lung lian si) is a temple of the Chinese Sangha of Thailand, located on Charoen Krung Road, between Soi Charoen Krung 19 and 21 in the Pom Prap Sattru Phai District of Bangkok. It is familiar to Thai-Chinese people and Chinese from abroad. Some people call this temple "Wat Mangkon" because the word "Leng" or "Leng" in Teochew means dragon (the word "Nei" means lotus and the word "Yi" means temple). The official name of the temple is "Wat Mangkon Kamalawat" bestowed by King Chulalongkorn, Rama V
This temple was founded in 1871 and took 8 years to complete. Its architecture is in the southern Chinese style of the Teochew craftsmen. The plan was based on the royal temple style, with the first shrine, the Ubosot in the middle, and the shrine of the gods behind the shrine. The construction used wood and brick as the main materials.
From the entrance, you will reach the shrine of the four gods (2 on each side) in Chinese warrior outfits and holding different weapons and objects such as a lute, a sword, an umbrella, and a pagoda. The Chinese call it "Si Tai Tiang Wong", meaning the gods who protect and guard the four directions. Next to the shrine of the four gods is the Ubosot, where the principal Buddha images of the temple are enshrined: the Lord Buddha and the Amitabha Buddha. Three Buddhas of Medicine Buddha or "Sam Po Huk Chow" along with 18 Arhats or "Jap Po Lo Hang"
On the right side, there are many gods such as the god of destiny or "Tai Sui Eia", the god of medicine or divine doctor "Hua To Xiang Shi Gong" and the most popular place to pray for blessings is the god of fortune "Cai Sing Eia", the god of wealth or "Tai Si Huk Chow", the Bodhisattva Maitreya or "Pu Gui Huk Chow" which is similar to Maha Kaccayana "Guan Yin Pu Sak" or Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva "Pa Kong" and "Pa Ma". There are a total of 58 gods in the temple. #Travel around Thailand #Trat is worth visiting #Travel in Bangkok #Travel in Thailand like going abroad #Beautiful temples around Thailand #Wat Mangkon Kamalawat #Wat Leng Noei Yi #Beautiful temples in Bangkok #Beautiful temples in Thailand #Make merit and worship Buddha #Make merit #Worship Buddha and ask for blessings #Worship Buddha #Shrine #Travel in Thailand like going to China #Beautiful Chinese temples #Chinese style #Bangkok #Merit-making #Merit-making trip #Don't miss it for merit-makers #Worship Buddha and make merit on holidays #Make merit at nine temples #Culture #Religion #Belief, faith #The beauty of the place #Happiness of traveling #Thailand
