Today, Dokbua Khao would like to recommend Wat Kanmatuyaram, located in the Yaowarat area, built in the late reign of King Rama IV.
Wat Kanmatuyaram means "the temple built by Mr. Kan's mother", where "Kan" comes from Mr. Kan Sakonwasi's name.
"Matu" means mother.
This temple was built by Mrs. Kleep Sakonwasi, the daughter of
Grandma Faeng, the owner of a brothel in the Sampeng area.

Bangkok, Thailand is a world-famous tourist resort city. Every day, thousands of tourists come here for sightseeing and vacation. There are many historical and royal temple attractions in Bangkok. This time, I will introduce a historical and royal temple attraction located in Chinatown on the banks of the Chao Phraya River in the center of Bangkok: Wat Kanma tuyaram วัดกันมาตุยาราม. It is free to visit and take photos📸, and there is no need to buy tickets. You need to take off your shoes to enter the temple hall. The temple attraction is close to the shipping terminal and the bus station mrt, and the transportation is very convenient. The temple was built in the Ayutthaya era in the early Siamese dynasty, and it has hundreds of years of history. It is a veritable historical monument temple and a third-level royal temple. The temple buildings are tall, majestic and magnificent, the most famous of which is the white, fat, round tower. The structure of the main hall is full of Siamese cultural and artistic style. It is exquisite and very suitable for taking pictures. There are not many tourists in the temple, it is quiet and peaceful, very suitable for a person to visit slowly, take pictures 📸 and meditate. There are public toilets and chairs for tourists to rest in the temple.

Dhammek Stupa-style Pagoda at Kanmatuyaram Temple
🏡Kanmatuyaram Temple is a small temple under the Dhammayutika Nikaya sect, built in 1864 at the end of King Rama IV's reign.
🌻It was established by Mrs. Kleeb Sakornwasi, the daughter of Grandma Faeng (the owner of a brothel in the Sampheng area and the founder of Kanikaphon Temple), who dedicated her flower garden to build the temple.
🙏Later, Mrs. Kleeb's son, Phra Darunraksa (Kan Sakornwasi), became a royal page in the reign of King Rama IV.
🙏After the temple was completed, it was presented to the King, who named it Kanmatuyaram Temple, meaning the temple built by Mr. Kan's mother.
🏕The temple area is quite narrow, with a significant religious site featuring an inverted bell-shaped pagoda in the Lankan style, modeled after the Dhammek Stupa in India.
🛕There are only two such pagodas in Thailand (the other is at Wat Sommanat Ratchaworawihan).
🙏Inside the ordination hall, there are mural paintings depicting the life of Buddha.
🏕This temple was once the residence of Suchivo Bhikkhu or Ajahn Sucheep Punnanuparp, a renowned Buddhist scholar in Thailand.
