Wat Benchamabophit Dusitwanaram Worawihan
Today, we will take you to see the beauty of Wat Ben, which has a full name: Wat Benchamabophit Dusitwanaram Worawihan. The name is quite long, right? 5555 It is an ancient temple that is about 100 years old, but its beauty is called Amazing Thailand. Because the beauty of the gold of the temple is well-maintained, clean, and the gold shines all over the temple.
First, let me tell you a short history of Ben so that everyone will know more. Wat Ben has another name, the Marble Temple, because it is decorated with the best marble in the world from Carrara, Italy. It was built to honor King Rama V in 1899, which is about 124 years old.
Inside the chapel, there is a principal Buddha image, the Buddha image of Phra Buddha Chinnarat, which is similar to the one in Phitsanulok Province, which is one of the most beautiful in Thai history. And the base of the Buddha image is where the remains of King Rama V are kept for us, Thai people or foreigners who come to visit, to pay homage. Let's pay homage.
Next, let's look at the window patterns, which were designed by Thais but were ordered in Florence, Italy. The construction materials are very valuable.
After we worshiped the Buddha and admired the beauty inside the church, we walked out to see the pavilions around the church. There are black Buddha statues lined up around the pavilion for us to study. There are Thai, Indian, Burmese, Greek, and Japanese styles. This allows us to see the differences in this place in one place. It's worth it and a blessing for our eyes.
After we are satisfied with studying the Buddha statues, we will take everyone to walk across the red bridge. But stop first! I have to say that I can't not mention this bridge. Because it is a bridge that King Rama V used money from selling cups to donate to the temple to build the bridge. This bridge is called the Cup Bridge. And there is a bridge next to it called the Phra Rup Bridge, which received money from selling coins at the temple fair.
When we slowly cross the bridge, walking along, we will see the Phra Thinang Song Tham. In the past, it was used as a place to listen to sermons and practice Dhamma for King Rama V when he came to practice Dhamma. We can walk around the outside area. Each corner is very beautiful and clean. The temple is very shady with many big trees and a canal to make you feel cool.
We visited the temple area and it was worth it. My throat was dry. Let's stop by the Benjasiri Welfare Cafe. The shop has drinks, coffee, snacks, ice cream, and a bathroom for tourists.
I got coffee. Let's go drink coffee first. I hope everyone likes this trip. Thank you for following. 🤗
