My final stop on my Asian holiday was Seoul, South Korea. This was a really cool city to visit, with a lot of variety. The subway system was very straightforward to get around on, which meant that in the few days we were there, we managed to visit Gyeongbukgung Palace, Bukchong Hanok Village (the old town), Culture Street in the Insadong district, a Buddhist temple holding evening prayers, the War Memorial of Korea (which was excellently curated and thoroughly educational), Bukhansan national park, and the old city wall. A destination I would thoroughly recommend

#cherryblossom2024 The War Memorial of Korea in Seoul, South Korea, was a profound and somber experience on my spring vacation. 🕊️ Located near the vibrant district of Yongsan-gu, the entrance fee was affordable, around 3,000 KRW per person. As I wandered through the expansive museum and outdoor exhibits, I was deeply moved by the tributes to the sacrifices of Korean soldiers and civilians throughout history. The museum's comprehensive displays chronicled the Korean War and other significant conflicts, offering valuable insights into the nation's tumultuous past. After paying my respects at the memorial, I took a contemplative walk through the nearby Namsan Park, enjoying the tranquil atmosphere and scenic views of Seoul. Nearby attractions also include the iconic N Seoul Tower and the bustling Namdaemun Market, where I sampled delicious street food and picked up unique souvenirs. This is a must visit when you are in Seoul. Nice and Quiet place where you will learn about Korea history. Admission is Free. Easily spent half a day there. Indoor, there’s a replica of the Turtle War Ship. it’s amazing. Outdoor it’s where all the War vehicle/Planes/Tanks/Ship/Missiles are displayed. Very nice looking. You can even board some of the plane and ship.

Iteawon is very close to this and the National Museoum of Korea. What you can do: Here you can find a lot of military equipment from wartime such as helicopters, tanks, or defense system. It is very pleasant to visit the open space exhibition area of ​​this museum surrounded by trees. Visit to War Memorial of Korea in Seoul

War Memorial of Korea is located almost in the heart of Seoul city. Just across the road is Korean Ministry of Defense building. However, the complex is a huge multi-storey structure with numerous halls showing the accounts of Korean War which occured from 1950-1953. As you step into the premises and face the main door of the building you see flags of different countries which helped South Korea during the war in any possible way they could. Inside you would come across a huge display of war accounts, both in litererary and artistic form. You would get the feel as if you transition from event to event or action to action as you move from one hall to another. A good place to visit.

Some really interesting things to see here. Free entry. It took me around 2 hours to get around. I'd recommend this. Especially on a rainy day.

The history was so rich and so much to absorb and I truly enjoyed learning more about Korea and I was really glad that my school brought us here to experience Korea’s rich history and culture. I would love to win the Hong Kong flight as I loved the food, culture, activities and I had an unforgettable time with my family and would love to be back to experience more local fare!

Not only is this a great stop for the budget minded traveler to Seoul, but it’s really a must visit for anyone that wants to learn more about the history of the country with specific regards to war. The memorial and museum have a lot of information and it’s an easy stop to make just down the street from the popular Itaewon district of Seoul. once you enter from the front into the 20,000 square meter museum you can see so many war related items and Weapons. it just so massive every on the war you can find here . Anyone that wishes to have a better understanding of the Korean War specifically should not miss this museum
