Jilin's winter is like a movie, with rime as the main character
Jilin is a must-visit destination, where you can enjoy the evening breeze on the Songhua River and witness the spectacular rime scenery. As one of China's four natural wonders, Jilin's rime is breathtakingly beautiful!
Rime, also known as "tree hanging," is ice crystals formed when fog and water vapor condense on branches and leaves. Seeing rime is not easy, as it requires low temperatures and high humidity.
🌟Best viewing period:
The golden period for viewing Jilin's rime is from December to February, with a festive atmosphere during the Chinese New Year. The five-star rime in Ashihada usually appears from late December to February, with almost daily five-star scenery in early February. Before setting off, you can check the "Jilin Rime Morning Report," which updates the rime viewing index at 5:30 am daily. If it's three stars or above, you're good to go!
🌟Best viewing spots:
The Ashihada Rime Viewing Area is in the Fengman District of Jilin City, and the "Ten Thousand Silver Threads" area is free and perfect for taking rime photos!
🌟Best shooting time:
From sunrise to around 9 am, the light is soft, and the fog is hazy. If you're lucky, you might catch a pink sunrise, resulting in stunning photos. After 9:30 am, the rime starts to fall, creating a beautiful "flying flowers" scene.
🌟Transportation:
🚎Bus: The Ashihada Rime "Ten Thousand Silver Threads" is 11 km from the city center. Take bus 33 for CNY 2, a 1-hour ride, and get off at the "Tongda Road" bus stop.
🚗Self-driving: You can park 1-2 km from the main entrance and walk there, easily avoiding parking issues.
🎿Alternative: If there's no five-star rime in Ashihada that day, don't be disappointed. The nearby Vanke Songhua Lake Ski Resort also offers beautiful rime scenery.
🌟Special experiences:
In the Ashihada Rime Viewing Area, besides enjoying the scenery and taking photos, you can experience traditional sledding, camel riding, take photos with cute white foxes, and play with water turning into ice. There's plenty of fun!
❄️Environmental tips:
Rime is beautiful yet fragile, so don't shake the trees to let the scenery last longer. Also, don't litter in the scenic area, and let's protect this icy wonderland together. Additionally, dress warmly with scarves, hats, and gloves!
