Wachiratharn Waterfall, Chiang Mai is a large waterfall in Doi Inthanon National Park, Chom Thong District, Chiang Mai Province. It was originally called Tad Kong Yong Waterfall. It originated from a stream in the Mae Klang Stream on the top of Doi Inthanon, flowing through the forest until it became a large, 1-tiered waterfall with a height of about 70 meters. It has a shady atmosphere and can be reached by car. It is considered one of the most popular rest stops in the park.
Highlights of Wachiratharn Waterfall The highlight of Wachiratharn Waterfall is the large amount of water flowing down from the cliff, straight into the pool below, creating mist that spreads everywhere. When it hits the sunlight, it creates a beautiful rainbow. Opposite the waterfall is a steep cliff called Pha Mo Kaew or Pha Waen Kaew.
There are 2 main viewpoints at Wachiratharn Waterfall: the front, where you can see the magnificent view of the waterfall up close, and the top of the waterfall, where you can see the view of the water flowing down to the ground from a high angle. The best time to visit Wachiratharn Waterfall is during the late rainy season, early winter to summer. From October to April of every year.
