If you're looking for a peaceful escape just outside Tokyo, Chiba Prefecture is a destination that pleasantly surprises. Often overlooked by travelers, Chiba blends natural beauty, cultural heritage, and fun-filled adventures—all without the hustle of big-city crowds.
My journey began in Narita, home to the majestic Naritasan Shinshoji Temple. Dating back over 1,000 years, this temple complex offers tranquility, towering pagodas, and beautifully landscaped gardens. Walking down Omotesando Street, I enjoyed the scent of grilled eel wafting from traditional eateries and browsed charming shops offering handmade crafts and snacks. It’s the kind of place where time slows down, and each detail invites you to look closer.
A short train ride took me to Urayasu, the gateway to Japan’s most famous theme parks—Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea. Located within Chiba, these parks blend Japanese hospitality with Disney magic. Whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, or with family, the energy and creativity here are unforgettable.
One of the highlights of my trip was hiking Mount Nokogiri (Nokogiriyama). I took the ropeway up to the top and was rewarded with sweeping views of Tokyo Bay. The carved stone Great Buddha and cliffside outlooks left a lasting impression. It’s peaceful and powerful—an experience that feels hidden away from the usual tourist trail.
For beach lovers, Kujukuri Beach stretches along the Pacific with golden sand and calming surf. I enjoyed a quiet afternoon here, collecting shells and watching the sky change colors as the sun dipped low. It's the kind of place that reminds you of nature’s simple beauty.
