Pha Daeng Viewpoint, Nong Khiew, Luang Prabang Province
If you come to Nong Khiew, don't miss going up to the 360-degree viewpoint
of Nong Khiew Village.
The path is not difficult, but it is a roundabout walk. The view from above is magnificent. The entrance fee is in the tens, and the view is worth millions. There is a sea of fog all the time.
It is even more awesome if you can set up a tent up there. You can see both the sunset and the sea of fog in the morning. Next time you come, you have to stay here.

Pha Daeng Best Viewpoint
#newyearadventure
Let me introduce to my favorite viewpoint in Laos so far - the Pha Daeng Viewpoint. The hike to the top of the mountain takes around one hour and we stayed on the top for around two hours and the view was beautiful. The best time to go is for sunrise or sunset but make sure to bring a head torch so you can see in the dark. The way up is not too difficult but you need shoes

Pha Chom Nang, Nong Khiaw, Muang Ngoi, Luang Prabang
🚗How to get there - Travel from Luang Prabang, head along Lek T13 North Road to Nam Bak, then turn off to Muang Ngoi. It is about 170 kilometers from Luang Prabang city, taking 3 and a half hours. 🕞
⛰Tourist attractions - It is a steep cliff, you have to walk up the mountain for about 30 minutes, but if you walk slowly and rest, it will take about 1 hour.
On the cliff, there is a tent accommodation, which we have to book in advance, the price is about 200,000 kip / person 💵, which includes breakfast. 🌯
The highlight is the view that can see Muang Ngoi in full view, along the curve of the Ou River, and the fog that comes from midnight until morning 😶🌫️. It is recommended to visit in the winter.

Viewpoints and kayaking
Nong Khiaw has lately been dubbed one of Laos' top tourist spots. Tourists did not pay much attention to this section of the country in the past, but it is now establishing itself as a destination to visit if you want to go away from the big centers of Vientiane and Luang Prabang. Nong Khiaw is a great place to visit if you enjoy trekking or simply want to see more of Laos' countryside. We went for hiking today to see the viewpoint and witness the beautiful town and afterwards a bit of kayak. it was indeed a fun day!

Nam Ou River farmers in Laos
Nong Kieu is a small rural town on the banks of the Nam Ou River in Luang Prabang Province, Laos, nestled between the most amazing limestone mountains.
It is a popular tourist destination as there are hiking trails and cycling routes near the village. The only good way to get there used to be by boat from Luang Prabang or Muang Khua, near the Vietnamese border, but the boats are no longer operating since 2017 following the construction of a dam on the Nam Ou River.
This village is well-known in Laos because the Nong Khiri Bridge connecting the villages on both sides was built with Chinese aid. The bridge offers visitors a beautiful view of the Nam Ou River and its surrounding breathtaking rocks, mountains, and hills. #OverseasTravel #Mountain #NaturalBeauty #SoutheastAsia #Laos #LaosTravel #LaosTravel #River #RiverView #MountainClimbing #Hiking #Bridge #Village #Fog #Boat

Nong Khiaw, Luang Prabang
Nong Khiaw has recently been billed as one of the main destinations to watch in Laos. In years gone by, tourists didn’t pay much attention to this part of the country, but now it is starting to establish itself as somewhere to visit if you want to get out of the main hubs such as Vientiane and Luang Prabang.
As Nong Khiaw is located amidst gorgeous limestone mountains, this is a wonderful spot to visit if you like hiking or if you just want to check out more rural areas of Laos.
If you are planning to visit neighboring Muang Ngoi, then try to also spend a few days in Nong Khiaw on the way over, as there is a lot to see and do here, both in the town proper and in the surrounding villages.
The trek to reach the viewpoint takes 1-1h30 depending on how hot it is and your condition. The trek is pleasant, a bit of climbing but also some walking to recuperate from the stairs. We recommend to start the trek around 5:30-6 am to avoid the heat. We arrived at the viewpoint at 7, it was amazing. Really nice 360 view, with the morning clouds slowly dissipating.
Bring a lot of water and mosquito repellent.

Red Cliff, Nong Khieo, Laos
#Sea of mist. Beautiful viewpoint. Well worth the hike if you don't get too wet. Take the road out of town and the entrance is on the left. The climb is steep with lots of steps, but if you're slow it's manageable. I set off at 10am in mid-October and while it was quite warm it was fine. Took me 1hr 30min with plenty of stops. I was the only one at the top which was lovely (maybe people are avoiding the midday sun but it wasn't bad on this occasion). Luckily the trail spreads out near the top. I wouldn't have done it if it had been raining as it was very slippery.
