Authentic Mexican Cuisine in Sai Ying Pun
Verde MAR is located on the sloping Water Street in Sai Ying Pun, with a cute sloth mural on its pure white exterior, which is very distinctive. In fact, the mural and the special decorations inside the restaurant are all made by the Mexican chef Eligio himself, with great care and sincerity. Verde MAR means "Green Sea" in Spanish, and the restaurant specializes in healthy Mexican dishes. There is also a small garden outside the restaurant filled with edible Mexican cacti and herbs, embodying the farm to table concept.
Signature Fried Chicken $89
The chicken drumsticks are well-marinated, and although no batter is used, the skin is fried to a golden brown, and the meat retains its juices, making it a very tasty appetizer.
Taco $99
For the Taco filling, you can choose from chicken, pork, fish, vegetables, or mushrooms. We ordered chicken. The tender chicken paired with fresh tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and avocado sauce makes the dish as rich in color as it is in flavor.
Birria Beef Stew $189
A highly recommended signature dish. The marinated and slow-cooked beef stew melts in your mouth and is very tender. The essence lies in the beef broth, adding rice, cilantro, and onions to the beef soup makes every bite rich and flavorful!
Jamaica $38
A sour and sweet hibiscus tea, healthy, appetizing, and cuts through the grease, with a beautiful purple-red color, likely very popular with the ladies.
Avocado Icecream $88
A must-try avocado ice cream! As the signature dessert here, there's a reason for it. The homemade ice cream has a rich avocado flavor, with a smooth and sweet texture. The avocado pit in the middle is actually mango sorbet, sour and refreshing. A dessert with two different layers of flavor that complement each other perfectly, highly recommended!
