Uwajima Castle is a castle in Uwajima City, Ehime Prefecture, Japan. It is also known as Crane Island City and Maruchuan City. It is a National Historic Site of Japan. History and culture: The original construction year is unknown, but it has been recorded since the fourth year of Tianqing (941). In the first year of Qingchang (1596), Tengtang Gaohu built a large-scale construction when he was enfeoffed in the 70,000-stone territory. After the Sekihara War, Fujitang Gaohu transferred the title of Imabari Castle, and Tomita Shingao was entrusted. In the first year of Yuanhe (1615), the eldest son of Date Masamune, Hidezong, was entrusted with the 100,000-stone territory here, and until the "Meiji Restoration", it was the hereditary residence of the Date family. In 2006, it was selected as one of the top 100 cities in Japan. According to legend, Uwajima Castle was built in 1601. The owner of the castle at that time, called "Todo Takatora", was a military commander and a celebrity who built the castle. The main building in Uwajima Castle, the "Tenshukaku", is still intact as it was at that time. There are only 12 castles in the present village of the castle tower in Japan, and this alone makes Uwajima Castle a very precious castle. Inside the castle, there is a museum called "Shiroyama Folk Museum". The museum displays objects such as tools, weapons, and photos that were used in previous combat. The natural scenery such as mountains and rivers near the castle is also very beautiful.
