Oxford: A Journey of Academic Atmosphere and Leisurely Life, A British Trip Full of Surprises
Oxford, a name always associated with ancient colleges and rich history. However, my trip to Oxford was a surprising blend of modern and classical experiences, far more vivid and interesting than I had imagined, filled with leisurely British charm.
The first impression upon arriving in Oxford is its unique atmosphere. The coexistence of ancient architecture and modern facilities, the intertwining of old cobblestone streets and bustling roads, create a wonderful contrast yet harmonious unity. The air is filled with a strong academic atmosphere, mixed with the aroma of coffee and flowers, making one feel comfortable and vibrant. This city is not as rigid and serious as imagined, but rather full of youthful vitality and modern fashion sense.
I first strolled through the streets of Oxford city center. The ancient buildings are lined up, each telling a story. Although I did not delve into their history, simply appreciating their architectural styles was awe-inspiring. Many buildings are well-preserved, with exquisite carvings and decorative details showcasing superb craftsmanship and artistic achievements. Against the backdrop of these ancient buildings, modern shops and cafes stand out, creating a unique visual impact without any sense of discord.
For lunch, I chose a traditional English pub located in the city center. The pub's decor is rustic and elegant, full of British charm. I ordered a traditional English lunch paired with a locally brewed beer, soaking in the rich British atmosphere. People in the pub were chatting and drinking in small groups, the atmosphere was relaxed and joyful. In the afternoon, I visited the campus of Oxford University. Although I did not enter any colleges, just walking around the campus was enough to feel the strong academic atmosphere. I strolled along the campus paths, admiring the beautiful surroundings and feeling the unique charm of Oxford University. In the evening, I took a walk along the Cherwell River in Oxford. The clear river water reflects the blue sky, white clouds, and green trees on both sides, creating a beautiful picture. The riverside is shaded by green trees, providing a peaceful environment, perfect for a leisurely walk. I strolled along the river, admiring the beautiful scenery and feeling the charm of nature. By the river, I saw many people rowing and fishing, enjoying themselves, making me feel the tranquility and beauty of Oxford. The setting sun dyed the river golden, a breathtaking scene, becoming one of the most unforgettable moments of my trip.
During my days in Oxford, I also visited the local market, tasted fresh produce and local snacks, and felt the strong local life atmosphere. The market was bustling with people, lively and full of energy. I bought some fresh fruits and vegetables and enjoyed a delicious picnic by the Cherwell River, feeling the tranquility and beauty of Oxford. Additionally, I discovered some independent bookstores and cafes, where I spent many comfortable and pleasant times, reading books, tasting coffee, and feeling the unique cultural atmosphere of Oxford.
What impressed me most was the friendliness and warmth of the Oxford residents. Whether on the street, in shops, or in restaurants, I could feel their warmth and friendliness. They were always willing to help and very happy to share their life stories with me. This friendliness and warmth made my journey even more heartwarming and unforgettable.
Leaving Oxford, my heart was filled with emotion and reluctance. This city, with its unique atmosphere, beautiful scenery, and warm and friendly people, deeply attracted me. It not only has a rich historical heritage but also is full of modern vitality and fashion sense.
