Penang, Malaysia - Traditional good taste from Ipoh: Wangji ancestral tofu pudding
#WangJi Ancestral Tofu Pudding is a traditional snack from #Ipoh, Malaysia. The handmade tofu pudding is soft, smooth and chewy. You may have a chance to eat it at the #Penang branch. It is a small street shop with a large plaque sign. The word #WangJi is quite conspicuous, and the colorful soy milk on the table is the most eye-catching!
The tofu pudding has a silky texture and is available with a variety of syrups and ingredients. There are seven types of syrups alone: ginger candy, white sugar, coconut sugar, chrysanthemum candy, blue flower candy (butterfly pea flower), osmanthus sugar, and rose sugar. The reason why it is colorful is that it comes from natural plant extraction.
The ingredients include red beans, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, peanuts, jelly and rice balls, as well as a combination of all the ingredients. I chose grass jelly and black sesame rice dumplings, which were quite delicious. Unfortunately, unlike the tofu pudding in Tainan, it was not topped with crushed ice, so it lacked the cool feeling to relieve the heat.
So I bought some chilled soy milk in a tube. They were colorful and pretty, including milky white soy essence, turquoise black soy essence, blue butterfly pea soy milk, orange carrot soy milk, pink dragon fruit soy milk, and black jelly.
The price is cheap and the workmanship is solid. Don't miss it if you pass by. However, there are not many tables and chairs inside, and there are only electric fans. I was afraid that I would sweat while eating, so I decided to take the food back to the hotel and eat it in the air-conditioned environment, which is more comfortable.
