“Yatai Hamachan” This shop is in the Ameyoko Ueno area. The shop is crowded all the time, day and night. But you can come and eat at both times. The night will be even more lively. because it is a place to party with friends The highlight here is the tempura that is perfectly fried: shrimp, pumpkin, asparagus, sweet potato, everything is not greasy at all. The highlight is Unlimited mashed radish that you can scoop yourself There are also sashimi, grilled scallops, various soups, and alcoholic beverages. Ameyoko is a busy market street along the Yamanote Line tracks between Okachimachi and Ueno stations. The name "Ameyoko" is a short form for "Ameya Yokocho" (candy store alley), as candies were traditionally sold there. Alternatively, "Ame" also stands for "America", because a lot of American products used to be available when the street was the site of a black market in the years following World War 2. Niki No Kashi is a famous Japanese snacks store in Ueno, Ameyoko Shopping Street. They offer a large variety of snacks, sauces, biscuits, sweets, chocolates, drinks and many more at affordable prices. If you buy in bulk above 5000 yen (S$50), you can get a tax refund on the spot, please remember to bring along your passport. They will use a plastic bag to seal it and you can’t open it until custom clearance. Some of my favourite items are Honey Butter Almonds, assorted nuts, dried squid, Kororo gummy, matcha Kit-Kat, seasonal flavours Pocky, Japanese curry cube and many more. Marion Crepes is one of the most famous crepes in Japan. You can see the shop upon entering Ameyoko Shopping Street. They offer over 100 types of crepe combinations with different ice cream flavors, sauce, and fruits to choose from. I love the display of food in Japan, it’s exactly what you will get in actual. Even though it is autumn, and the weather was quite cooling, I couldn’t resist to get a crepe with ice cream and strawberry. The crepe was soft and smooth, and matched so well with the ice cream. One of the most satisfying sweet treats in Japan. Other than crepes, they also serve a large variety of drinks. Another point is that cheap sales are carried out all year round, and it is lively, and you can enjoy an atmosphere that seems to condense the old-fashioned downtown of Tokyo just by taking a walk. It is crowded with many people from locals to tourists every day, but especially at the end of the year, it is more crowded with people looking for New Year's supplies.

#thingstodo This is where the night life is in Asakusa. Even though I was there when it rained, it still felt lively as the streets are brightly lit with neon light. Unique night market experience here as they sell everything from clothes to tea. Many food stalls are open, tried one of the unagi stalls and it’s one of the best I ever had. If you dine in, you can hear the train pass by every 5 mins. Recommend coming here at night/evening if you only have a day at asakusa as the other attractions are closed at night. Sensoji is a must to go at night too.

#2024wish Just how I remembered it! Bustling with tourists and heaps of shops for good food, bars and restaurants and clothes. It’s a backpackers paradise with very reasonable prices. The food is definitely not as fresh as tsukuji but only a fraction of the price. Vibrant area full of shops and restaurants. Always crowded and high energy. Really great to just stroll through. If you can find a place to sit and dine without waiting an hour, you'd be very lucky . I still wish to go back here in 2024

I’ve been to Ameyoko Town in Ueno a few times and I still come here because it’s so convenient. There are cosmetics, medicines, and large quantities of snacks for sale. It’s convenient to eat and drink at night. Staying in Ueno is really suitable for friends who are visiting for the first time. The subway, airport line and JR line are all convenient. Nearby MUJI, GAP or walking to Asakusa are all good itineraries.

Ameyoko Market is located between Ueno Station and Okachimachi Station, this market will have a wide variety of products including fresh goods to rice and groceries. Ameyoko is the most popular street in Ueno, situated just next to JR Ueno Station. There are so many restaurants and stores offering clothes, shoes, fruits, souvenirs, dried food and more. The most popular ones are ABC Mart offering sport shoes at attractive discounted prices, Niki no Kashi offering Japanese snacks and sweets, a kind of grocery plus convenience store. Famous takoyaki store selling delicious takoyaki at a really cheap price (400yen for 8 pcs). I love the vibe of this street, so colourful and not as crowded as I thought. Getting There - Easy to get to Ameyoko as there are multiple JR and subway stations in the vicinity! Attractions - Great place for street food and souvenir shopping! Hotels - Not that I know of Food & Restaurants - Do try some street food like turkey ice cream etc Shopping - Lots of shops with different genres! You can definitely get something you want :)
