I always think that the best cafes are the ones that look better in person than in photos. Besides the environment, the food and atmosphere are also important. Yesterday, I took a flight from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. This morning, I took a train from Chiang Mai to Nan. The train ticket cost 50 baht, which is only CNY 10. The journey took nearly 2 hours. There was no security check at the station, and no checkpoints on the train. After boarding, the conductor checked the tickets. The conductor's station announcements were fun! In Thailand, trains are divided into 1st, 2nd, and 3rd class, but not by carriage. Instead, they are divided by train. 1st and 2nd class trains are air-conditioned, while 3rd class trains are not. If you want to be more comfortable, buy a 1st or 2nd class ticket. You need a passport to buy a train ticket! The train was not crowded, and there were many empty seats. The passengers were quiet, and there was no congestion. There was even no one talking loudly, making phone calls, or playing music. This was really great! Chiang Mai Night Market Chiang Mai's nightlife is colorful and diverse. I personally experienced it and recommend the following: - Nimmanhaemin Road: A popular spot for local young people. It's a 10-15 minute ride from the old city. The most concentrated bars are in lanes 7 and 9, such as the popular Mirror Cafe, which has a beer garden, pool tables, and live music. The bars here are cheap, with beer costing around THB 80. At the end of lane 6, there are large nightclubs such as Infinity, Warmup, and Tawandang around the parking lot. Tickets are generally THB 200, and beer is THB 100-200. - Zoe in Yellow Bar: The most popular bar in the old city. The crowd gradually increases after 9pm. There is a DJ and a lively dance floor. It is a gathering place for foreigners and young people. - North Gate Jazz Club: Chiang Mai's oldest jazz bar. The atmosphere is good and it is crowded every night. It is mostly frequented by foreign tourists. The beer is affordable and you can experience unique live jazz. - Bus Bar: Converted from an old bus, it is located next to the Iron Bridge. There are different bands performing every night. The atmosphere is relaxed and it is suitable for chatting with friends. - Le Hellow: Popular with tourists from around the world. The DJ is outstanding. It starts to get lively around 10pm. There are many Europeans. There are three venues: outdoor, middle, and indoor. Chiang Mai bars generally close at 2am. There are also later nightclubs. Young people should remember to save a photo of their passport on their phone, as it may occasionally be required.

Chiang Mai University, Chiang Mai Zoo, Doi Suthep, and Huai Su Waterfall are worth spending a day or a few days exploring. Chiang Mai University is not a tourist attraction, but it is more appealing to us than typical tourist spots. The view of Doi Suthep from the lawn on the south side of Jingxin Lake at Chiang Mai University is even more beautiful than the view from within Doi Suthep. The university's color is purple, and the purple shuttle buses traversing the lush campus give a scene reminiscent of a Hayao Miyazaki film, according to my daughter. Walking around the lake offers different scenic views at every step, each one a boutique. The coffee shops and food stalls within the university are all excellent. We were particularly impressed by the caramel pudding in the shared space, the light salad from the food stall, the avocado smoothie, and the Khao Pad Kra Pao, each from different stalls. The zoo is not particularly outstanding, but you can buy an all-day ticket for the electric car. I accompanied my 11-year-old child for four rounds, which made the ticket worth it. Plus, there are capybaras that are popular with children. We didn't specifically visit the Sticky Waterfall but went to the less crowded Huai Su Waterfall to wade in the water.

During the last 2 nights at Chiang Mai we stayed at U Chiang Mai. A very cosy and nice decor, both the bedroom and the hotel interior. One of the toilet wall tiles was in gold. Very bold contrast of the shower room. They have complimentary guided tour in the morning and selected days in the afternoon. The hotel offers a drink per person from the fridge throughout the stay. I personally felt that if it’s per day basic, it will be a much better service. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Right in the middle of the old city. They serve all day breakfast from the menu, only 1 setting, which is very good and flexible. However you can order as many types of breakfast you want to have. Kind of like the concept. Overall a very satisfactory stay. Rate: 4.4/5. Price: $$$
