Trullo Sovrano is a famous and magnificent two-story trullo in Alberobello, Puglia, Italy. Construction began in the mid-18th century, funded and built by the wealthy Perta family. Standing approximately 14 meters tall, and distinguished by its multiple conical tops (approximately twelve in total), Trullo Sovrano stands out from the surrounding village. It also marks a shift in local trullo construction: the introduction of building materials such as mortar (malta) broke with the traditional "dry-laid" (mortarless) trullo construction method. Now open to the public as a museum, its interior, decorated in the style of the period, showcases the life of the trullo of the time, including original living quarters such as bedrooms and kitchens. Visitors can learn about the daily lives of the residents and the details of local trullo architecture. During the summer, Trullo Sovrano hosts small performances, poetry evenings, concerts, and other cultural events. Trullo Sovrano is not only a tourist landmark, but is also listed as an Italian National Monument and part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
