Close to the business district of the mansion, there is such a corner that has not been seen and familiar to everyone. When you actually walk into it, you will find it seems to cross into another time and space. Yes, it is carrying the historical memory of Taipei, and it is also the last place to break the building - treasure rock. Treasure rock has been raging because of the demolition problem. Along the hillside, a large piece of old houses that can be seen here were mostly built during the Japanese occupation. In order to beautify the city, the Taipei City Government in 1980 wanted to demolish this area. However, after the active appeals and efforts of all walks of life, it was possible to preserve the treasure rocks. Treasure rock was listed in the designated historical building list by the municipal government in 2004. In 2010, this area was also planned as the Treasure Rock International Art Village, officially opening the settlement mode of the symbiosis. and this model of symbiosis has attracted the attention of Taiwanese and even global writers and artists. In order to fully revitalize the treasure rock, the relevant departments actively promote cooperation with international art organizations, attracting more than 20 artists from all over the world to enter here every year. They create, live, and carry out a series of artistic activities here, and interact with local residents to better understand and pull in the distance from the community of Treasure Rock.

On the fourth day of my trip to Taipei, I ventured into the artistic paradise hidden on the edge of the city - Treasure Hill Artist Village. This place is a fusion of history and art, preserving the traces of old Taipei while brimming with modern artistic creativity and vitality. If you enjoy exploring artistic alleys or taking photos, this place is definitely worth adding to your itinerary! First Impressions of Treasure Hill: A Blend of History and Culture Originally, Treasure Hill was a settlement built along the mountain, with the earliest structure being the Treasure Hill Temple built during the Qing Dynasty, dedicated to the Goddess of Mercy. Later, it gradually became an illegal settlement for immigrants, with narrow alleys and stacked houses forming a complex maze. Today, this old community has been transformed into an international artist village full of artistic vibes - old buildings combined with modern creations, perfectly blending the old and the new. Every step you take, you'll encounter graffiti or art installations on the walls and alleys, as if stepping into a visual feast. Strolling Through the Artist Village: A Space of Infinite Creativity 1. Art Exhibitions and Workshops The village is home to resident artists from around the world, showcasing their creativity through painting, sculpture, photography, and more. There are new exhibitions and art activities almost every month, with strong interactivity. Sometimes, you might even meet artists introducing their works and exchanging inspirations. 2. Graffiti and Installation Art The walls on both sides of the alleys are filled with graffiti and three-dimensional installations, each conveying different emotions and stories. One wall covered with collage posters is humorously called 'Traces of Time,' recording the footprints of time and people. 3. The Story of Stairs and Old Houses Built along the mountain, Treasure Hill's winding stairs and narrow alleys are its soul. Walking on the stone steps feels like traveling through time, experiencing the bustling life of the old community. The old houses have been transformed into art spaces, cafes, and craft workshops, adding more warmth and surprises to the place. Recommended Photo Spots: 1. Water Pipe House Installation Art: An artistic space transformed from discarded water pipes, full of fun and perfect for taking photos. 2. Guanyin Temple Treasure Hill Temple: Dedicated to the Goddess of Mercy, it is the cultural core of the area, offering a sense of tranquility and blessings. 3. Handicraft Shops and Cultural Creative Stores: You can buy Taiwanese cultural and creative products, such as handmade postcards, pottery, and jewelry, which are perfect souvenirs. Take the MRT Xindian Line to Gongguan Station, then walk about 10 minutes to reach. 2. What I love most is the slow-paced atmosphere here, where you can walk and stop at will, discovering hidden artworks in the alleys, or sitting in a cafe daydreaming, feeling the artistic sense of everyday life.
