The oldest street in Toucheng, Heping Street, was once the main economic road in Lanyang Plain during the Qing Dynasty, and now it is the only remaining old street in Yilan area. The north-south Heping Street is a street extended by the development of river transportation. It is connected with important cargo distribution centers such as Wushi Port, Toucheng Port, and Dama Tobacco. It was once very prosperous. It is a pity that the good times were short-lived. In 1924, the flood flooded the Toucheng Port. With the subsequent development of highways and railways, the economy of Lanyang Plain was transferred, and Heping Old Street gradually declined. Now the North Gate Fude Temple in the north section of Heping Old Street and the Fude Temple at the south gate at the other end were built by residents at that time for the purpose of blocking the street for wealth. No. 139 is a combination of various architectural styles of Lu's house, as well as the relics of Touchenggang, which has become a pond, Chen Chunji and Yuanhe at Nos. 51 to 61 are imposing Japanese-style Taisho buildings and celebrations at the center of the old street. Yuangong Sanchun Hall preserves the early quaint stones. Walking on the old street, reminiscing about the prosperity of the year through the buildings on both sides, and feeling the change of the street from prosperity to decline, it is like walking through a period of vicissitudes of architectural history!
