Toucheng Old Street
Toucheng Old Street has been developing since the Qing Dynasty and was once the economic hub of Yilan. With over 200 years of history, the current old street area is located on Heping Street in the town, stretching approximately 600 meters from the Fude Temple at the North Gate to the Fude Temple at the South Gate, running in a north-south direction. It still retains the red brick houses, temples, and banyan trees from its early development.
Toucheng Old Street has undergone revitalization, with the town office selecting two alleys to transform into 'Art Alley' and 'Literature Alley.' These alleys feature mosaic light covers and works by local painters and calligraphers. Sunlight filters through stained glass and perforated steel plates, creating unique visual effects that have turned these alleys into popular photo spots. The old street is becoming more innovative and photogenic!
