Lookout fortress on the beach
Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Castellón (Region)
The Torre de São Vicente was built in the 16th century in Renaissance style and is part of a group of eighteen watchtowers that line the coast of today’s Castellón province. Its mission was to monitor and defend its coast. There are guides in the tower to explain the history, and there are audio-visual materials.
It's in a very nice garden area to walk around and right next to the beach. There is a large promenade with restaurants, bars, ice cream parlours and hotels.
The whole area has been renovated to make it the perfect place for a quiet walk.

Places you shouldn't miss when visiting Benicàssim
Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Castellón (Region)
This is the most spectacular of all the villas on the northern promenade of Benicassim, both the building and the gardens are absolutely spectacular. The restoration was very successful and it is very well maintained, with a special mention to the backyard which should not be missed on your visit.
It is currently owned by the Benicasim Town Council and can be visited to take advantage of one of the many exhibitions they host or one of the events. The gardens are filled with very special plants and trees, especially the giant banyan tree which is not to be missed.

Benicassim is a traditional resort town with six kilometres of sandy beach and high mountains overlooking the sea.
Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Castellón (Region)
These heights protect the town from the wind and are part of the Las Palmas Desert and the Sierra de Santa Águeda, where we find Bartolo Peak (729 m). This spiritual retreat founded by the Carmelites now offers interesting walking or cycling routes. The Old Camel Distillery, which made its liqueur using vanilla, eventually moved to the city center.
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, modernist and colonial style holiday villas began to appear in the Benicàssim beach area. Of these, the oldest surviving is Villa Pilar, built in 1860. The neoclassical parish church, built in the 18th century, is the most representative building of the historic district. Other historical monuments include the São Vicente Watchtower, located on the beach, and the Montones Medieval Castle.
