Tongdu Temple is located in the south of Jiuqi Mountain. The reason why Tongdu Temple is famous is that the real body relics of Bodhisattvas are placed in his temple, so there are no Buddha statues in the temple. Tongdu Temple is one of the three famous temples in Korea. It is located in a lush forest with more than 70 buildings of various sizes, rich in cultural relics and beautiful scenery. Built in AD 646, it was founded by Master Ci Zang who brought back the Buddha's relic from the Tang Dynasty. It was burned down during the Imjin Japanese Rebellion and rebuilt in 1601 and 1641. There are 35 buildings and pagodas in the temple, 14 nunneries around it, 19 local treasures and 794 local cultural heritages. Because of the placement of the Buddha's relic, although there is no Buddha statue, there are all kinds of drums, cloud plates, wooden fish, and Brahma bells in the Fanzhong Pavilion. In addition, there are a total of 35 buildings including the exquisitely decorated Daeungjeon Hall, Fujimon Gate, and stone reliefs that have been preserved for 1,300 years. The natural landscape of Jiuqi Mountain, where Tongdu Temple is located, is very beautiful. From the entrance of the temple to the Yizhumen, there are pine trees that have been lined up for hundreds of years. There are Dharma drums, bells, sunset lights, lotus ponds in the temple, and waterfalls and rocks behind the temple. The scenery is excellent, so it is known as the "Eight Sceneries of Tongdu Temple". There are also experience activities of temple accommodation in the temple. Visitors can choose to temporarily stay in the temple for one night and experience the peaceful and safe realm of being away from the world in the deep mountains.
