If you are visiting Tokyo and have enough time to visit Ueno park, The Tokyo National Museum in Ueno Park is a must to visit
It has a huge collection of art and historical objects from Japan and other places, making it a must-visit when you're in Tokyo.
Although the museum has a massive collection with over 110,000 objects, they rotate what they display regularly, so you'll always find something interesting. They have samurai swords, stunning kimonos, ancient Buddha sculptures, and more.
It's the world's largest collection of Japanese art, and they provide good English information and audio guides, making it easy for travelers to explore and learn. If you can only visit one museum in Tokyo, make it the Tokyo National Museum in Ueno Park.

The craftsmanship of Japan can be seen from the details of the National Science Museum in Tokyo. There are dozens of species of clam shells and pine cones, and there are more than 1,700 kinds of insects.
A lot of Japanese families have a day to go, and the children have benefited from the specimens.
This is just a bio show of one of the branches of the Earth Museum, as well as a science and technology exhibition, the Japan Pavilion... admire this spirit of ultimate!

Hello Kitty 50th anniversary
The exhibition celebrating Hello Kitty's 50th birthday was so fun! 🤩 I loved seeing the first toy, all the collaborations, and the amazing art!
Some may feel that this is an exhibition for fans only and there is no interactive presentation. But Hello Kitty brand generates over a billion dollars in revenue annually. This is admirable and commands respect. 💖 #HelloKitty #Exhibition #Art #Toys #Anniversary #Fun

Tokyo National Museum
Tokyo National Museum is a place full of surprises, with collections from all over the world, each piece revealing deep cultural heritage.
Walking into the museum, what impressed me the most was the Chinese Gallery, which showcases many exquisite artifacts such as bronzes and ceramics. Each piece is well-preserved, allowing you to feel the breath of history.
Besides Chinese artifacts, there are also precious collections from other countries. Whether it's traditional Japanese crafts or Western artworks, every exhibition area is captivating.
The museum's architecture itself is also very distinctive, complementing these historical artifacts. It's not just a place to display artifacts, but a space where you can immerse yourself in the history and culture of different parts of the world. If you are interested in history, this is definitely a place you shouldn't miss.

Promise me you won't get lost in Tokyo again, okay? .
I went to Kanto alone at the end of March, which symbolically put an end to a certain stage.
.
Spring has not yet fully arrived, and the cold air has reddened the tips of people's noses and the unopened cherry blossom buds. The blue of the Kanagawa Sea still has the awe of winter, and the waves are aggressive, painting a realistic version of the Kamakura coastline. Kanagawa Okinawa, Mount Fuji is silent in the clouds and mist in the distance, and the top of the snow prints a warm yellow color in the sun... Atami's fireworks light up the lake in people's eyes amidst the continuous loud noises. If life It would be great if the loud noises in the music were only accompanied by happy heart palpitations...
.
In addition to the natural landscape around Tokyo, the city’s classic sightseeing spots such as Tokyo Tower, Sensoji Temple, Tokyo National Museum, National Museum of Western Art, and Shibuya are also very interesting. However, almost every day, I get lost in Tokyo’s complicated rail transit. It’s easy to find your station among the colorful route instructions, but as you sit, you find that the operating route has changed... When going to surrounding attractions such as Mount Fuji, Kamakura, and Atami, if you accidentally miss a certain section of public transportation planned on the map, It will not be able to connect to the next section of transportation originally planned, which will delay a lot of time...
.
Trip.com's overseas car tours can completely avoid the inconveniences caused by complicated public transportation, and have many other advantages over completely independent travel and group tours~
-The driver is also a tour guide and translator to assist in travel, so you no longer have to worry about the language barrier
-The chartered car itinerary is flexible, which not only saves transportation time, but also allows you to gain an in-depth understanding of the local features you are interested in.
-It is safe to store your luggage and personal belongings in the car, so you can travel easily

.

Visited the Tokyo National Museum's Jingo-ji exhibit—an awe-inspiring display of ancient Buddhist art. The intricate carvings and serene statues transported me to Japan's spiritual past. Tokyo National Museum Special Exhibition: Explore Related Exhibits in the Main Building
The Tokyo National Museum's special exhibitions are held at the Heiseikan, showcasing valuable artifacts from both Japan and abroad on a seasonal basis. However, photography is often prohibited. On the other hand, the main building displays important artifacts related to Japanese history from its collection of 120,000 items, and sometimes features related items in conjunction with the special exhibitions. Most exhibits in the main building can be photographed.
This time, I visited the exhibition 'Jingo-ji Temple: The Beginning of Kukai and Shingon Esoteric Buddhism.' Photography was only allowed for the statues of Zochoten and Uchoten, but there were also Kukai-related exhibits in the main building that complemented the special exhibition. Moreover, it was less crowded, allowing for a leisurely viewing experience.
Kukai joined the 18th Japanese envoy to Tang China as a monk in 803, submitting a petition for a 20-year study period and traveling to Chang'an to study under Master Huiguo. After two years of studying esoteric Buddhism, he ran out of money and returned to Japan, where he founded Shingon Esoteric Buddhism. In the lineage of Shingon Esoteric Buddhism, Master Huiguo is the seventh patriarch, followed by Kukai as the eighth.
I only knew Kukai by name, but the more I learned, the more I realized how significantly he influenced Japanese history. It was a truly enlightening exhibition.
Event Dates: Until September 8, 2024. Don't miss it.
Hours: 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM, closed on Mondays
Admission: 2100 yen (includes access to the Main Building, Toyokan, and Horyuji Treasures)

The Tokyo National Museum isn't just a place to be indoors but there are sites to see outdoors also. Apart from a wide beautiful array of Japanese history confined within the museums exhibition walls, the museums Gardens are a must inclusion in your itinerary. Half of the trees were blooming during our March 31st visit. Recommend grabbing a bite from the food cart or drinking tea at the Okyokan tea house while enjoying these seasonal wonders.

A fleeting glimpse of Tokyo, a memory palace of the island nation
Tokyo, this metropolis of the East, holds too many mysteries worth exploring. The Tokyo National Museum is one of the most breathtaking sights.
To call it a museum is an understatement; it's more like a hefty tome, chronicling over two thousand years of this island nation's vicissitudes. Stepping into the museum is like arriving at a certain point in the river of history, transported centuries back. The exquisite artifacts still seem to retain the warmth of their era, conveying the wisdom and spirit of this ancient people.
Walking through the simple and elegant courtyard, under the wooden corridors, a delicate screen becomes my guide, leading me through the various eras of Japan. Whether it's the furniture painstakingly carved by craftsmen of the Edo period or the tea sets and garments used in the daily life of ancient nobility, they all showcase their relentless pursuit of beauty.
In the depths of the museum, several well-preserved ancient temple gates make me feel as if I've time-traveled to the temples' heydays. In the quiet space, the Buddha statues seem to smile, inspiring us to find our own peace amidst life's complexities.
Leaving the museum, Tokyo's skyscrapers rise abruptly before me. Modernity and antiquity intertwine here, creating a unique tranquility and charm. The Tokyo National Museum, a vessel of memories, sails through the river of time, offering us a dual feast for the eyes and soul. There, modern people seem to find the long-lost stability that belongs to them, finding life's anchor in the river of history.

The collection of Japanese cultural relics, in addition to domestic exhibits, also includes a large number of exhibits from Asian countries. The Chinese exhibits mainly consist of stone carvings and calligraphy and paintings. Taking the time to visit can be very helpful in understanding the Japanese nation, history, and culture. It is located in Ueno Park, and there aren't many visitors, with many exhibits also having Chinese descriptions. There are also several special exhibitions held each year, but be sure to pay attention to the dates to avoid missing them.

Tokyo One-Day Tour Route: Asakusa + Ueno Tokyo National Museum
📆【Travel Guide】
📆Itinerary:
Specific route Asakusa--Ueno Park (Tokyo National Museum, National Museum of Nature and Science)--Tokyo Skytree night view or Akihabara.
🚗Transportation Guide:
Asakusa Temple is crowded with people, and the commercial street in front of the temple opens around 11 am. Arriving around 10 am, you can hire a rickshaw for a 20-30 minute tour around Asakusa. After the rickshaw ride, you can visit Asakusa Temple and its surroundings for about 1 hour.
Taking the subway from Asakusa Temple, you can quickly reach Ueno Station. Exiting the station, you can see AMEYOKO, where you can have lunch. To the left of AMEYOKO are several parallel food streets built under the railway bridge, where the queues for eating are much shorter.
After lunch and a rest, you can walk to Ueno Park according to the signs. Inside Ueno Park, there are temples, Ueno Zoo, Tokyo National Museum, National Museum of Nature and Science, art galleries, etc., where you can spend a lot of time.
Special exhibitions are very crowded on weekends, and Tokyo's youth are seriously queuing to view them. Behind the main building, there is a beautiful courtyard where you can take photos, and there is a café where you can take a break. The National Museum takes about 2 hours.
In the evening, if you still have energy, you can take a direct ride to Oshiage Station to visit the Skytree. Dinner can be settled in the shopping mall downstairs. Those who like anime can go directly from Ueno to Akihabara. With this, the one-day tour of Ueno, Asakusa, and Oshiage is concluded.

Tokyo National Museum Guide: Transportation, Sightseeing Routes, and Cuisine All in One!
Tokyo National Museum Travel Guide:
Transportation: You can choose from a variety of public transportation options to get to the museum. For example, you can take the JR to Ueno Station Park Exit or Iriya Station South Exit, and then it's about a 10-minute walk to reach the museum; or you can take the Tokyo Metro subway and get off at Ueno Station on the Ginza Line or Hibiya Line, or at Nezu Station on the Chiyoda Line, and then it's about a 15-minute walk.
Sightseeing Routes: Once you enter the main gate, you can plan your tour route according to the signs and maps inside the exhibition halls. The Tokyo National Museum has a rich collection of exhibits, and it is recommended that you familiarize yourself with the exhibition themes and schedules in advance to better plan your visit.
Cuisine: There are many restaurants and snack bars near the museum for you to choose from, allowing you to taste a variety of cuisines. If you want to experience traditional Japanese cuisine, the nearby 'Ueno Onshi Park' area is a good choice. In addition, there are many other types of restaurants to choose from, including international cuisine and local specialties.
Accommodation Recommendations: If you wish to stay near the museum, I recommend choosing the Tokyo Prince Hotel or the Tokyo Royal Hotel. Both hotels offer high-quality services and facilities to ensure you get ample rest and relaxation during your trip. Here are the price references for the two hotels: Tokyo Prince Hotel is about 30,000 yen per night; Tokyo Royal Hotel is about 50,000 yen per night.
Precautions: Please pay attention to the following when visiting the museum to ensure a pleasant and safe trip: Do not touch the exhibits, as they are very precious and fragile; do not use flash photography, as it may damage the exhibits; do not make loud noises or disturb other visitors inside the museum, to maintain a quiet environment. Following these rules will help protect the museum's cultural heritage and create a good visiting experience for other visitors.

Definitely worth a visit. While some stuff is only in Japanese, most exhibits have English, Korean, and Chinese signage as well.
Only ¥1000 for the regular ticket, or around ¥2000 or a little more if you want tickets for the special exhibit.
Amazing museum with a big collection of artifacts from Japan, East, and southeast Asia , and even some stuff from the south pacific and even ancient Egypt.
The Japanese collection is obviously the most thorough and extensive. An incredible collection from each period of Japanese history including gowns, artwork, statues of Buddha , samurai swords and armour etc.

#thingstodo A massive, astonishing collection of historical treasures that are sure to delight anyone with even a passing interest in Japanese history. The museum's collection is displayed wonderfully, allowing for optimal viewing even when factoring in the crowds, and with everything from finely-forged blades to historic Buddhist relics on display, there's something for everyone to appreciate. As with the nearby Ueno Zoo, the Tokyo National Museum is also incredibly affordable, easily capable of being the day's main activity.

This facility collects lots of treasures from all over the world, and it also provides a very close distance with some of the collections which gives visitors another feeling while viewing the ancient treasures. It's located in Ueno Park so with lots traffic options around the area. Walking would be necessary so a pair of comfortable shoes would be necessary for the visit.
In 2024, I want to comw here again.

Tokyo’s treasure trove, the national museum
Without a doubt this is an essential stop on any trip to Tokyo, it’s a beautifully created museum in stunning grounds.
Nestled in Ueno park there are plenty of other cultural sights around, but if you’re limited on time this is the one to do.
Set across multiple buildings the artefacts are grouped by region and time period. I spent a lot of time in the Asian halls and the Japanese history halls, I went at opening time and the museum was nice and quiet. As I left around midday it was starting to get very busy so the morning is definitely the best time to go.
Entrance is around $5 and there is good free wifi throughout the exhibits.
There are special exhibitions that cost extra and rotate seasonally, it’s worth checking in advance what it is and booking a place.

Tokyo National Museum, commonly known as Tohaku. I went there during the summer vacation of 2018 because they had a collaboration project with NHK Educational TV's "Biju Tune!".
There was an experiential exhibition using reproductions and videos of art works owned by the Tohaku that were turned into songs on "Biju Tune!", such as "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji: The Great Wave off Kanagawa," "A Beautiful Woman Looking Back," and "Reiko's Smile."
Biju Tune's lyrics with big impacts such as "I'm Looking Back So Much It's Almost a Drill" are very appealing! It's interesting, so please check out the video on YouTube as well. It will make your visit to Tohaku more fun.

The Tokyo National Museum is located at the northern end of Ueno Park in Taito-ku, Tokyo. There are 43 exhibition halls in the 4 exhibition halls of the main building, Dongyang Hall, Watch Hall and the Horyu Temple Treasure Hall. The exhibition area is 14,000 square meters and there are about 110,000 collections. It has 87 Chinese treasures, 634 important cultural relics, and some cultural relics that are entrusted to be kept. The main building of the
museum is made up of buildings symbolizing Japanese history and has traditionally been called "the museum of art museum architecture and museum architecture". Japanese art, unearthed cultural relics and handicrafts were exhibited in the main hall. The Toyo Museum displays art and archaeological artifacts from Asia and Egypt.
There are a lot of middle school students who wear school uniforms to visit here. It is very beautiful. Although I am old, there are still half a year of student IDs expired, but I forgot to bring them. I dont enjoy the discount, but the fare is not high. Going in and looking at it is definitely worth the money.
