Penang is known as a foodie’s paradise! In addition to delicious food, the prices are also friendly and you can enjoy eating to your heart’s content. This trip, I would like to recommend 5 great restaurants that you shouldn’t miss.
1. OO White Coffee Cafe – Local-style breakfast
A popular restaurant among locals with a lively atmosphere, perfect for breakfast. We recommend Kaya Toast, toast topped with kaya custard, paired with strong, fragrant coffee. Or try the noodles and beef noodles, which are just as delicious.
2. Ton Soon Cafe – Traditional coffee and kaya custard bread in a hidden alley
A small shop that we found by accident but was very impressive. The Kopi is rich and creamy, while the kaya custard bread is excellent, just the right amount of sweet and smooth.
3. Tok Tok Mee Bamboo Noodle – Michelin-starred bouncy noodles
The highlight menu is the bamboo noodles, small and bouncy noodles, well-rounded soup, paired with light-textured dumplings, delicious and worthy of being recommended by Michelin.
4. Beng Kee Claypot Bak Kut Teh – Bak kut teh with fragrant spices
This restaurant may not be in a tourist area, but I must say that it is worth a try. Bak kut teh in clay pot, fragrant with spices, rich soup, no fishy smell, eat with hot rice, so awesome
5. Fu Er Dai – The most popular dim sum that you must come early in the morning
Seeing the reviews on Google Maps, I had to go and try it right away. The dumplings were amazing, full of shrimp filling, and the dough was just the right thickness. Other menus were also great, the prices were lovely, perfect for dim sum lovers.
Conclusion
Penang is a city where you can enjoy every meal. There are local breakfasts, Michelin-starred street food, and delicious dim sum. If you come to visit, don't forget to follow in my footsteps!
