[Nagano] Three things to do when you visit Togakushi Shrine in winter❄️
3 things to do when you visit Togakushi Shrine in winter (Eng below)
Togakushi Shrine is a historic shrine in Nagano Prefecture that is known for its beautiful nature and sacred atmosphere. Here are some things you should definitely do when you visit.
1. Worship
Togakushi Shrine has five shrines (shrines), and it is especially famous for going to the "Okusha". The Okusha is located in the mountains, and you can walk there while feeling the sacred atmosphere. It is quite a distance, so it is best to go by car, but it is dangerous in winter, so drivers who do not like snow should avoid it.
2. Walk the Okusha Approach
In winter, you can only go as far as the Nakasha, but to get to the Okusha, you walk along a sacred cedar tree-lined road, so even if you cannot go all the way to the back, this is very beautiful and calming. From the Nakasha to the entrance of the Okusha, you can take a taxi (Nagano Kanko Jidosha) in 5 minutes, but please note that there is only one taxi running recently.
3. Taste Togakushi Soba
The area around Togakushi is famous for "Togakushi Soba". I recommend trying some fresh soba noodles at a local soba restaurant after your visit. However, I was born and raised overseas, so I'm used to strong flavors and honestly I didn't really like it, but I recommend it for those who like milder flavors.
If you want to go, like and save this ✨
And this is a trivial story, but I'll say it first because I think there will be people who are concerned about my outfit 😊 I was wearing several layers of underwear, and on top of that I was wearing warm beige fleece tights and other cold weather measures, so I was sweating while walking. To be honest, it was hot. That's all 🔥
