Tianyi Pavilion is located in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, China. It is one of the oldest private libraries in China and one of the three oldest family libraries in the world. Tianyi Pavilion was founded by Fan Qin, the right assistant minister of the Ministry of War in the Ming Dynasty in 1561, and has a history of more than 400 years. The name of Tianyi Pavilion comes from the ancient philosophical saying that "Heaven gives birth to water", which is intended to prevent fire with water and protect precious books. The building has a unique design, adopting the Jiangnan garden style, with an elegant environment and exquisite layout. The library houses a large number of precious ancient books, local chronicles, imperial examination records, family trees, etc. There are nearly 300,000 volumes of various ancient books here, including more than 80,000 rare books, especially local chronicles and imperial examination records of the Ming Dynasty, which cover a wealth of historical and cultural information.
