Stepping Back in Time: A Visit to Jingxing Tianchang Ancient Town
#favouriteitinerary
A while ago, I had the chance to visit Jingxing Tianchang Ancient Town, located in Shijiazhuang's Jingxing County. The experience felt like a journey back in time, with old streets and alleys giving the town a nostalgic charm reminiscent of the last century.
The town was quiet, mostly inhabited by local residents. I saw groups of elderly people sitting at the alley entrances, basking in the sun, while a few small dogs roamed the streets. Street vendors were selling roasted sweet potatoes, candied hawthorn, and sesame flatbread, filling the air with tempting aromas.
Although the old houses were not well-preserved, the crumbling walls added a sense of history to the place. It was a truly captivating experience, filled with a sense of timelessness and simplicity.

··Tianchang Ancient Town is a well-preserved Ming and Qing dynasty town. The town is simple and uncommercialized, which is the type of ancient town I like.
·Tianchang Ancient Town has a long history. It was once a military stronghold and an economic center in ancient times. The ancient town has a history of nearly a thousand years, so it is also called "Tianchang Song Ancient City."
.·Tianchang Town is located in the western part of Jingxing County. It is one of the eight passes of Taihang and is the only way from Shijiazhuang to Taiyuan, so it is also known as the "throat of transportation between Shanxi and Hebei."

Visit the ancient town of Tianchang in Jingxing, and listen to the whispers of the old town
In the ancient town of Tianchang in Jingxing, history seems to be frozen in every corner. The old houses, witnesses of the years, though mostly unrenovated and with their doors tightly shut, exude an indescribable charm. Hidden between their bricks and tiles are stories, and through their windows shines the glory of the past. The old city walls of Jingxing, like a sleeping dragon, wind through the mountains, guarding this ancient land.
The arrival of Xiaonian has draped the ancient town in a warm festive atmosphere. The lanterns on the old street, red as fire and yellow as gold, are dotted under the grey eaves, like stars in the night sky. The joyful laughter of children echoes through the narrow alleys. Outside the old city walls, the market is bustling, with the cries of vendors and the haggling of prices composing a symphony of life.
This ancient town, though quiet for a long time, comes alive again in these special moments. Every old house, every stone of the city wall, tells a story of the past, waiting for people to discover and listen. For those who love ancient towns and enjoy exploring history, Tianchang is undoubtedly a place worth visiting.
