The temple was first built in the early years of Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty (601 AD). After expansion and renovation by successive generations, it reached its unprecedented scale in the 37th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1772 AD). It has hundreds of pavilions, terraces, towers, halls, temples, and buildings, and is known as the "crown of the northern and southern monasteries." [○] Most of the buildings in Tianning Temple were destroyed during the war, but the surviving screen wall, main hall, Maitreya niche and Tianning Temple Pagoda (Wenfeng Pagoda) still exude ancient charm. In 2000, the municipal government allocated funds to reinforce and repair Tianning Temple, and rebuilt the mountain gate, Heavenly King Hall and other buildings. The top of the tower is a Tibetan-style bowl-shaped tower, which looks like a reduced version of the White Tower in Beihai, Beijing, placed on the top of the tower. The brick carvings around it are exquisite, with iron chains and four-clawed dragons. The scenes of the Buddha's birth, practice, preaching, and nirvana are vivid. From March of this year, the tower is no longer allowed to climb, which is regrettable. Although the courtyard is small, the begonias, pomegranates, bamboos and various trees and plants are lush, and the birdsong is clear in the ears, like a pure land in the downtown, which makes people feel pure and longing. I first went to the Red Flag Canal Memorial Hall and the Fen Shui Gate Scenic Area, then drove to the Qingnian Cave Scenic Area, which is 23 kilometers away. It was rebuilt on its original site in the spring of 1988. East of the Bell Tower is 'Hou Cang Street'. Walking around Hou Cang Street and returning via 'Cang Xiang Street', you will find yourself in a historical and cultural district. From Cang Xiang Street, you can walk to 'Gao Ge Wangfu'.
