The drive from Chongqing city to Wulong takes more than 3 hours. If you don't want to rush a one-day trip, taking the first/last train for a special forces-like itinerary can be a bit tiring. I took the high-speed train to Wulong Station, then took the scenic area shuttle bus (¥10) to the scenic area. I stayed overnight in Wulong (there are many accommodations around ¥100 and specialty restaurants in front of the scenic area, very convenient), spending more time to leisurely explore the next day. Several karst landscape scenic areas in Wulong are listed as World Heritage sites. The Three Natural Bridges scenic area became more famous due to the filming of 'Curse of the Golden Flower' and 'Transformers 4'. The Three Natural Bridges + Longshuixia Fissure (ticket includes transfer bus and elevator ¥210) involve walking through canyons to admire the karst landscape. The Three Natural Bridges is a canyon with two tiankengs and three bridges. Hiking about 4 kilometers in the canyon surrounded by towering cliffs forming tiankengs and three natural stone bridge caves is surprisingly flat and easy to walk. However, Longshuixia Fissure involves walking up and down a narrow creek valley. Although it's only a 2-kilometer journey, the rainy and slippery stone steps require careful walking. The scenic area opens at 8:30 AM, and it takes about 5 hours to leisurely walk through both scenic areas. Then take the scenic area shuttle bus (¥10) to Wulong Station, and take the high-speed train back to Chongqing city.

From Chongqing, you can easily reach Wulong. After arriving at Wulong Railway Station, there is a shuttle bus right outside the station (see image 18 below), which costs only 10 RMB per person and takes you to the Tianshengsanqiao Scenic Area Visitor Center. The whole journey is through the mountains and takes about 40 minutes. 🍜 You will arrive at the visitor center around 12 noon, where you can have lunch first. There are noodles and stir-fried dishes available at reasonable prices. After a warm meal, you can enter the scenic area. 🧥 The temperature in the scenic area is quite low and damp. Raincoats and jackets can be purchased or rented at the visitor center. Remember to wear a raincoat and shoe covers, even if it's not raining, they are useful for keeping warm or walking through waterfalls. 🎫 Tickets for the scenic area can be purchased on the B1 floor of the visitor center. Single tickets: 125 RMB for the karst, 105 RMB for the crevice. Joint tickets: If you want to visit both places, choose a joint ticket, which costs 230 RMB for adults, 167.5 RMB for seniors under 65 and children, and 105 RMB for those over 65. 🚌 Take the scenic area bus (included in the ticket) to the No. 2 entrance of the karst area. The ride takes about 10 minutes, passing the No. 1 gate. Don't enter through gate No. 2, as it requires an additional 50 RMB ticket. Get off the bus and walk back 200 meters to the No. 1 gate you just passed, and queue up to enter the scenic area. 🚡 Upon entering the scenic area, you will soon reach the elevator. Queue up to take the elevator down into the karst. During peak season, the wait can be long, at least an hour, but it's faster on non-holidays. (Elevator is the preferred option) 📸 After taking the elevator, just follow the scenic route for photography. The karst area takes about 2 hours to explore. Use the restroom at the entrance, or you'll have to wait until you exit. 🚗 After exploring the karst area, buy a ticket for the electric cart to the entrance of the crevice area, which costs 15 RMB per person (not included in the ticket, see image 18 above). You can also walk there (15 minutes). Enter the scenic area and first pass through the 'Time Tunnel' going downwards, then follow the route for exploration. The crevice has more water vapor than the karst and you will pass a large waterfall. It's a bit thrilling to walk behind the waterfall, so have your raincoat, umbrella, and shoe covers ready. The crevice takes about 1.5-2 hours to explore and is worth the visit. If the karst is about the beauty of the frame, the crevice is about inner beauty! 🚌 Similarly, when you see a restroom, it means you are near the exit. Around 17:25, take the scenic area bus (included in the ticket) back to the visitor center, which takes about 20 minutes. 🚉 Around 18:10, take the shuttle bus from the visitor center back to Wulong Railway Station for 10 RMB per person. The ride takes nearly 40 minutes, and you should arrive at Wulong Railway Station around 18:50, but you can definitely catch the last train back to Chongqing North Station, K9510, from 19:04 to 21:17 Warm tips: Remember to wear a raincoat and shoe covers, even if it's not raining, they are useful for keeping warm or walking through waterfalls. Bring a long-sleeved shirt, as the scenic area is cool and damp. Visiting both the karst and crevice is a complete experience, truly worthy of five A's. Take the elevator and vehicle routes where possible, instead of walking, to save energy. This way, you won't be tired at all after visiting both attractions, and you can immerse yourself in the scenery. The karst can be accessed without going through gate No. 2 and spending an extra 50 RMB. Entering through gate No. 1 and taking the elevator down is the preferred route, and you can also take aerial photos of Tianfu Guanyi.

There are also small black cars in the local area, and the fare ranges from 10-20. Remember to negotiate. The bus rides to Wulong at the Chongqing Four-Kilometer Bus Station. The fare is 60. You can travel freely. You need to take a bus or train at the bus station to transfer to the scenic spot. It is recommended to take the elevator to the scenic spot for a better landscape effect. The last kilometer is uphill. You can take a scenic car for 15/person until you reach the exit. After driving on the highway for an hour, you arrive in 30 minutes along the mountain road. Have a meal and go to the observation deck. The floor of the observation deck is transparent, so it's thrilling. After that, the walk starts. Basically, you walk along a single road. As you go down and up the valley, the spectacular scenery changes with time due to erosion. Stalactite caves, steep cliffs, clear streams, waterfalls, etc. spread out before the traveler's eyes in succession, riveting them. The highlight is "Tiankeng Three Bridges". The strange sight of 280m difference in height is a spectacular space that is difficult to describe, and the scenery is unimaginable. It's quite hard to go up and down the mountain path, but the transcendent scenery and the refreshing negative ion effect make you feel tired. This is a must-see attraction for tourists visiting Chongqing.

Wulong is home to fairy mountain, the natural bridges and a number of cool gorges. Used in the filming of Transformers (there are reminders of this everywhere) it's a great location for half a day of taking in some greenery. Getting There- Wulong isn't the easiest it cheapest option for a day hike. The first way is to take a taxi from Chongqing city. This will cost around 600rmb one way and take almost 3 hours. The other options are to take the fast train or bus to Wulong and then taxi to the scenic area, which is almost an hour away. Attractions- There are hiking routes through the scenic area and busses are set up to drop you off at the start point and pick you up at the end. #nationalpark

One of the best day trips from Chongqing is visiting Wulong three bridges. Getting here is very easy, from chongqing the trains run very often to Wulong. Upon arriving, there are buses which depart from the railway entrance to the three bridges which takes about 40 minutes. Wulong's attractions are mainly natural scenery, and many of them had been listed at World Natural Heritages. There are four hottest attractions: Three Natural Bridges of world wonder, magical Furong Cave, Fairy Mountain with vast grassland and the magnificent Longshuixia Gap. 📍 Getting There - Taxi to Chongqing North train station, train from there to Wulong station, take a taxi from there to Wulong tourist centre. Do exactly the same on the way back. Just check the trains (as there aren’t many). You could get bus from Wulong to Chongqing too! ⭐️ Attractions - Buy a ticket at the Wulong tourist centre for three bridges (make sure you take your passport, QR codes and 48 hour Chongqing Covid test). After, a bus takes you from the tourist centre to the place. It’s a 4km walk through some beautiful scenery. 🏨 Hotels - Not too many hotels there so I booked the Glenview Hotel which is central Chongqing (10 mins from the train station). 👤 A special thank you to Nina from the Wulong tourist centre who helped me with travel and Covid tests.
