[Kuala Lumpur/Malaysia How about a romantic dinner for your anniversary?]
My boyfriend's birthday was in November, so I searched for a romantic and wonderful restaurant in Kuala Lumpur where I could experience something out of the ordinary. There were many options, but I booked Thirty8, which has a view of the Twin Towers from the window and offers various anniversary services. It is located on the 38th floor of the 5-star Grand Hyatt.
I wanted to surprise him on his birthday, so I made a reservation in advance on Thirty8's website!
When you go to the official website, you will see the reservation policy. Read it carefully before making a reservation.
------------
- Dress code: Smart casual
- Please let us know in advance if you have any food allergies
- Seats will be prepared 15 minutes before the reservation time
- Many customers request seats with a good view of the Twin Towers, but they will do their best to accommodate your request when making a reservation, so if you have a preference, it may be a good idea to let them know your seat preference.
*There were several other policies listed as well.
----------------------------------------
After agreeing to the policy, enter the date, time, number of people, etc. to proceed to the next screen.
Enter your personal information and the purpose of your visit to the restaurant.
In question 1, answer whether you would like to become a member of "World of Hyatt loyalty".
In question 2, you can request a surprise for an additional fee.
・For a table for 2-3 people, you can request a decoration with rose petals for MYR20nett (approx. 682 yen). *For 4 or more people, the price is MYR40nett (approx. 1,364 yen).
・You can pre-order Thirty8's recommended cake (THIRTY8 signature cake) for MYR72nett (approx. 2,456 yen).
・Those who request a cake can add up to four words of their choice as cake decorations.
*The cake will be served as a surprise after the meal is over. If you would like it served at a different time, please let the staff know in advance.
I made a reservation for 6:30 p.m. on the day, but I was almost an hour late due to the rush hour and rain. However, it was not very crowded, so they kindly accepted me.
The dress code was smart casual, so I wore a black tight dress and high heels, but my boyfriend forgot his shoes, so we just wore sneakers. I was wearing a proper suit. Even so, we were not refused entry. Some of the customers were quite casual, so maybe they are not too strict.
I had asked for the table to be decorated in advance, so I was excited to see what it would be like. They decorated the table with rose petals, which was very romantic! It seemed that many couples who came asked for rose petal decorations. Looking around the table, there were lots of roses (lol)
The seat was not the best (because I was late), but it was a good seat with a view of the Twin Towers! It's worth requesting.
I had looked at the menu on the official website and decided to order the Thirty8 Tasting MENU MYR628 nett per couple (about 21,419 yen). This is per couple, so it was this price for two people. Appetizer, main course, and dessert were served in that order, and the main course was shared on a large plate. I ordered red wine and my boyfriend ordered coffee as drinks.
I wasn't very hungry that day, so I couldn't finish the whole meal. I wanted to savor more, so it's a bit disappointing. I want to come here again someday when I'm hungry! Also, the yuzu cheesecake that came for dessert was so delicious that I want to eat it again.
During the meal, several couples were surprised with birthday presents, and I realized that many people come to this restaurant on anniversaries.
After the meal, a birthday cake was brought out along with the birthday song. A big round chocolate sphere was placed in front of my boyfriend, and he broke it with a wooden hammer on the plate, revealing a chocolate cake with raspberries on top.
I only requested "Happy Birthday♡" on the birthday cake, but the plate template already had "Happy Birthday" written on it, so the staff added "Happy Birthday Sayang♡".
*Sayan means loved one or important person in Malaysian. It was the first word I learned from my Malaysian boyfriend.
I was full, so I had just one bite of the chocolate and decided to take it away. This was also really delicious and I was impressed...!!
I thought the staff were all kind and very considerate. They took photos if you asked, wrapped the cake for takeaway, and were friendly with a smile. It was an additional charge, but I'm glad I added table decorations and a birthday cake!! I especially recommend the cake!
I paid the bill when I went to the toilet. ------------------------
Table decoration 18.87MYR
Cake 67.92MYR
Tasiting menu 592.45MYR
Coffee 28.31MYR
Red wine 41.66MYR
Subtotal 749.21MYR
Total 795 (approx. JPY 27,115)

When I made a reservation for this restaurant, I joined World of Hyatt loyalty, and I had accumulated 838 points for this meal.
The price was a little high, but the staff was kind, the night view was beautiful, and there were many options for anniversary surprises, so I was very satisfied!
I don't often make reservations at high-end restaurants overseas, so I was worried whether it would go as I expected.
We had a lot of trouble with the unexpected weather and the dress code, but we had a wonderful night. My boyfriend was happy and said he had never been celebrated like this before.
We would like to thank all the staff at THIRTY8. We look forward to welcoming you again.
