We had an amazing two-day trip to Kuala Lumpur, staying at Sleeping Lion Suites—a modern and comfortable hotel in a great location. With just two days, we made the most of our time exploring the city’s top landmarks. Day 1: Iconic Landmarks & City Views • KL Tower – Started the day with panoramic views of the city from one of the tallest towers in the world. • Petronas Towers – Walked around the stunning twin towers, an iconic symbol of Malaysia. • Merdeka 118 – Admired the world’s second-tallest skyscraper, a true architectural wonder. • Independence Square (Dataran Merdeka) – Explored the historic heart of Kuala Lumpur, surrounded by colonial buildings. Day 2: Cultural & Religious Landmarks • Batu Caves – Visited this breathtaking Hindu temple inside a limestone cave, famous for its giant golden Murugan statue and colorful stairs. • Thean Hou Temple – Ended our trip at this beautiful Chinese temple, offering stunning architecture, peaceful surroundings, and a great view of the city. Getting Around We used Grab for transportation, making it easy and convenient to move between locations. Kuala Lumpur is a fantastic city blending modern skyscrapers with deep cultural heritage. Here are a few spots in KL that I found worthy of a visit (including Instagram worthy shots): 📍KLCC (picture 1) - The tallest twin towers in the world, and once the tallest building in the world is a perfect place for luxury shopping and relaxation outside at the KLCC park where you can view the twin towers at its might. 📍Thean Hou Temple (pictures 2-4) - A large temple near the city center where people can visit to admire the fascinating architecture and learn about the culture and religion. It even has a nice view of the city skyline 📍REXKL (picture 5) - An Instagram worthy place where book lovers can shop for books in a huge bookshop, and travellers can take street shots outside. There are also cafes in the area for coffee lovers to sip some high tea and coffee. 📍Petaling Street (picture 6) - next to REXKL, a street market where you can buy cheap goods and good street food such as mochi and soy milk is a good-to-visit if you are interested in purchasing cheap goods. The tallest building in Southeast Asia, Merdeka 118 (picture 7) is nearby as well. 📍Sunway Velocity (picture 8) - If you want to do more shopping, be sure to visit Sunway Velocity to find more interesting shops, and even an indoor trampoline park and adventure park! 📍Little Salty Cafe (picture 9) - Enjoy a romantic dinner at Little Salty Cafe with a panoramic view of the whole KL city skyline. The Thean Hou Temple is a beautiful Chinese Temple with many details. It’s located outside of Kuala Lumpur’s city centre. Due to the locations on a hill you will have a great view over the skyscrapers of the city. We visited the temple right for the opening hour at 8 am which is also the best time for a nice light. There are lots of people from all over the place will go there to pray for blessings. Buddhists who cross the Fortune bridge might be sprinkled with holy water by the monks for good luck. It is located on 1.67 acres of land atop of Robson Heights on Lorong Bellamy, overlooking Jalan Syed Putra. You can a great view of Kuala Lumpur from there. It is a nice place to visit. There is a open space car park but you need to wait to get a parking lot. Good to take taxi there. The nearest train station is Mid Valley and is a 15 minutes walk away. You can see the Kuala United Malam skyline from this temple. The temple itself is very beautiful - we loved the wonderfully carved dome where people offer intrinsic sticks. We sat on the white benches for a long time and felt at peace in that temple. This temple is a must see! If you are planning to visit Kuala Lumpur, do yourself a favor and go to this beautifully built colorful temple. The place is quiet and has countless picturesque areas. There were some worshippers performing their prayers inside the Chinese shrine, but you can still take pictures and enjoy your time nearby. It was a great place to visit!
