I flew to Guangzhou just to eat chicken. My local friend took me to eat authentic food. He said he would take me to a high-end restaurant, so he chose the Cantonese restaurant at the Westin Pazhou, a Marriott International hotel, which has won the Michelin Plate Award for many years.
The restaurant is decorated in an elegant Chinese style with simple and novel designs. When we sat down in the private room, we were served a welcome gift, a custard mung bean cake handmade by the executive chef, Mr. Cao Jinming, with the word "Cao" printed on it, and Keemun black tea, which was very ceremonial.

A colorful cold dish platter, echoing the name of Guangzhou, the "Flower City", with marinated pig's feet, spicy lettuce, water chestnut cake, tofu bag, and white fungus, with a full range of flavors.
🥣 Soup: Kumquat and Sea Conch Soup with Black Pork
Chef Cao used 8-month-old salted kumquats to stew the conch slices. The soup is as clear as spring water and tastes delicious and mellow. The kumquat is fresh and moist, which is a local Guangdong flavor made with ingenuity.
🐟 Fish: Yellow Croaker with Ginger Paste
Cantonese people are very particular about eating local fish and don't like fish from other places. This is a seasonal fish in autumn and winter in Guangdong. The most delicious and boneless part is selected and cooked with ginger paste and green garlic to bring out the aroma, which is delicious.
The brown sugar tofu pudding and lettuce with fermented bean curd served with the set menu are also very good. 👍
I stayed in the Executive River View Room at the Westin Pazhou, with a great view of the Pearl River and the city. The hotel has a sky corridor that leads directly to all the exhibition halls of the Canton Fair, and the staff also carefully arranged a welcome gift, which was very thoughtful.
