[2025 Miyakojima Stay] Travel Guide for The Rescape (Updated May)

15 minutes by car from Miyako Airport. Is there really a place to stay this far ahead? We turn at the entrance and go further in... Going down the mountain, we arrive at Rescape, where villas are lined up. We check in at the reception building in the center while enjoying butterfly pea tea. This building has a restaurant and a shop, and we were able to make bath salts and roast marshmallows at night. We can also experience yoga here in the morning, and sleeping on a mat outdoors is a very pleasant experience that makes you feel one with nature! It was winter, so we woke up as the sun gradually rose. The breakfast is Japanese and Western on alternate days, so you can enjoy both with two nights. Both breakfast and dinner are made with delicious local ingredients and were pleasing to the eye and stomach. The local Miyakojima beer was delicious 🍺 We stayed in a comfort cottage, which was spacious enough for two people. Even in winter, the temperature is warm enough that you can wear just a thin long-sleeved shirt, so there were ants and other small insects at the entrance to the room and near the windows. Some people may not like them, but it doesn't feel dangerous. There is a pool, and although it's not freezing like water, the temperature is not warm enough to swim in in January. There is a beach within walking distance of the building, but there is a lot of driftwood from overseas, and in this condition it seems like it would be impossible to swim in even in summer. It might be better to enjoy the pool in summer and then go to another part of the island for the beach! I stayed at the Rescape, a villa-style hotel on the east coast of Miyakojima! There are 41 rooms in 9 types ranging from 40 to 112 square meters, mainly villa-type buildings. This time I stayed in a suite villa. The room was clean and spacious, so I could relax. There was a private pool, which was heated so I was happy to be able to play even in the off-season. The beach was also close by. There was a space in the lobby where you could make your own bath salts, and at night you could roast marshmallows over a bonfire♪ It was quiet because it was in the middle of untouched nature, and on clear days you could see a beautiful starry sky. There are only 38 rooms, so you can relax and enjoy the quiet. It was a busy season during the Obon holidays, so I was tired of people everywhere, but I was able to relax here. The rooms were very stylish wherever I went. They were well cleaned and sparkling clean. There was Kumaza Beach behind the hotel, and there were hardly any people there, so it felt like a private beach. Every dish at breakfast was delicious, and the taste was great and healthy. The villa was surrounded by forest, so I was able to see many creatures such as coconut crabs, newts, spiders, crabs, and eels.
