2025 Pai Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in February)
Located about 50 miles (80km) north of Chiang Mai, Pai is a small town that has become a popular destination for backpackers due to its chilled-out vibe and its easy access to explore Thailand's northern jungles. What was once a small Shan market town now primarily lives off tourism, and the town's streets are lined with tourist shops and restaurants catering to foreign visitors. From Pai, there is very easy access to a number of elephant camps, waterfalls, and natural hot springs. Its proximity to the mountains makes it a great jumping off point for trekking excursions, where you can visit villages of various hill tribes, including the Karen, Hmong, Lisu and Lahu people. While Pai no longer feels undiscovered, traces of the traditional culture continue to exist, especially at the popular Wednesday market.

Accommodation amidst mountains, flower gardens and mist.
#Nature attractions
There is accommodation in #Pai, Mae Hong Son Province, which I visited in early November. I would like to recommend this accommodation.
#Pha Long Dao Accommodation | Flower Garden | Mist
The accommodation is located in Santichon Village, near the fog viewpoint where many people who visit Pai will come up to see the fog in this area.
The room is spacious, with a large bed and complete amenities. The bathroom has a water heater.
In addition to staying here, it is like visiting a large flower garden in front of the accommodation (Chiu Yu Farm). You will definitely have beautiful pictures with the flower garden to take home.
In addition to the large flower garden, this place is also outstanding with a swimming pool in the middle of the valley. You can swim and enjoy the view of the flower garden.
That's not all, this place also has a restaurant and a cafe.
The food here is in Thai-Yunnan style. For dinner, I ate here with a set of pork fondue. They gave a lot of it. I sat and ate in the restaurant and cafe area. I looked down and saw the view of the flower garden. It was another beautiful corner.
I woke up as expected. I found fog all over the accommodation. The air was quite cool.
For anyone who visits Pai And if you want to come up and stay with this kind of accommodation atmosphere, come stay at Pha Long Dao.

The city Pai 🇹🇭
#thailandtrip
This is a mountain town located near the Chiang Mai province in Thailand 🇹🇭 .You can still go around the town on a motorcycle.
The name of the city is called Pai. If you take a small car from the Chiang Mai bus terminal, you only pay 150 baht. (I don't know if the price has changed now)
When I got there, I rented a small scooter and paid only 150 baht for the rental fee. Not busy with motorbikes, all tourists.
Feel the nature, farms and hills are the signature of Pai town.

Challenging Trails and Breathtaking Scenery
The trails at Pai Canyon are both challenging and rewarding. The paths are narrow, sometimes just a few feet wide, with steep drops on either side, which adds a thrilling element to the hike. As you navigate these ridges, you are treated to expansive views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, particularly mesmerizing at sunrise or sunset when the sky is painted in vibrant hues.
Ideal for Photography

The unique terrain, characterized by deep reds and browns of the eroded soil, contrasts beautifully with the lush greenery that sprouts after the rainy season. Visitor Tips
- Safety First: The paths can be quite narrow and slippery, especially after rain. Wear sturdy footwear and proceed with caution.

🇹🇭The leisurely Pai County in northern Thailand
#Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand City Attractions #Thailand #Overseas Travel
Pai, located in the mountainous area of northern Thailand, is a well-known tourist town, famous for its many popular attractions and leisurely slow life. If you travel to Chiang Mai, you might as well spend two or three days visiting Pai.
It takes 3 hours to drive from Chiang Mai to Pai. The winding mountain road has many bends, so it will be a big challenge for those who are prone to motion sickness. Most people choose to go to Chiang Mai Bus Terminal to take a Mini Van, while some choose to rent a car and drive themselves. Pai's attractions are relatively scattered, so it is recommended to rent a motorcycle or join a tour group from Chiang Mai.
✅Popular attractions in Pai include: World War II Memorial, Big Tree, Inverted House, Coffee In Love, Strawberry Garden, Pai Canyon, Yunlai Observation Deck, etc.

Riverie Siam - Pai Best hotel
Located 3 hours drive from Chiangmai, Pai is definitely one of the most-visit tourist destinations in Thailand.
To be honest, Pai is party town. But if you are seeking for luxury peaceful hotel far from loud concert music at night, Riverie Siam is a great choice.
Spacious and well-designed room, beautiful bathroom (one of the best bathroom I ever been), excellent service, amazing breakfast.
Every corner can turn into pictures!!!
Although the price is very high compared to othet hotels in Pai and it is not located near walking street, it was worth every minute I spend here.
Pai Walking Street
Personally, I think Pai Walking Street is a very nice walking street. Most of the products sold here are local products. No matter how many times I go, the shop that makes the cut is Gyoza Queen. It's sooo delicious!!! If you go there, don't miss it. It's really delicious. Another shop is Pai Republic, which sells posters. There's a mailbox in front of the shop. You can write on it right away. Buy a stamp, stick it on, and drop it off. It's very classic!!! Actually, there are many other things to recommend, but I'll leave it at this for now. I fell in love with Pai for the millionth time with its atmosphere and many different places that you have to experience for yourself. And there are so many foreigners here. On weekdays, you won't see many Thai tourists. On holidays, there will be a lot of Thai tourists, but it's mixed. Let's just say that this place is another place that is popular with foreign tourists. #Pai #MaeHongSon #WalkingStreet #WaitingForDeparture #Thailand

Art In Chai, a hippie-like place full of Thai Pai music and freedom
#Southeast Asia Travel
Art in Chai, right next to my accommodation in Pai, Thailand.
I tried to go there 4 years ago but couldn't, but I went this time!
A place full of music and instruments, and everything you can touch is local. Everyone I met here was hippie, and I felt free. I remember learning the djembe at the cafe and improvising with the locals. There are live performances every evening, so the music never stops. I personally think it's the cafe that best represents Pai and fits it the best! Picked as my favorite cafe in Pai!

Sending a postcard to Korea from Pai, a rural village in Thailand📮
#Southeast Asia Travel
This is Pai, a rural village in northern Thailand and a mecca for backpackers! When I come to Pai, there is one thing I never miss: sending a letter to Korea. It is hard to find a mailbox these days, but you can find a red mailbox in Pai. The postcard shop called Pai Republic is also very famous among travelers. Everyone looks forward to receiving a letter from their respective countries after their trip and writes their feelings on a postcard. It may vary depending on the country, but I think I received a letter at home every time within 1 to 2 months. It feels different when I receive a letter from Korea..! I recommend those traveling to Pai, Thailand, to send a letter to their family and friends in Korea, or to yourself while traveling :)

Thailand | For this big tree, I will go to Pai County again.
Thailand is a particularly fun country to visit, with various places of different styles to go to. And for girls who love literature and art, you can't miss Pai County near Chiang Mai. This is a great place for artistic photos!
PAI's fresh rural style, the scenery after the rain is as beautiful as an oil painting. Many people say that the scenery in PAI is like Alice in Wonderland, and we are a character in a fairy tale story~
Recommend some great photo spots in PAI county for everyone~
🌟Play point:
🌲Big tree swing
Once I wanted to live in PAI county because of this place and the reason. I heard that there's no need to queue up in the morning, which is exactly what I want to get. It's really too dreamy~ For this tree swing, I'm willing to go to PAI county again.
🏡Treehouse
Treehouse, as the name suggests, is a house hanging on a tree. In order to prevent snakes and insects, this place is also a hotel that accepts reservations. However, after a round of exploration, the small treehouse model at the entrance is still more interesting~
🏠Little Yellow House
It seems that coffee is also a specialty, and the pastoral scenery behind the little yellow house is really like something out of a fairy tale!
🍓Strawberry field
The only memory I have of the strawberry field is the restroom downstairs from the stairs of the strawberry field building. Although I didn't go there because of the poor lighting and the wrong season, this attraction is not as lovely and vibrant as it is in other people's travelogues. So I just took a quick photo at the entrance and left.
🌸Pink House
This whole courtyard is all pink, a dream of pink and tender girls! There are various pink decorations that can be used to take many cute scenes.
🦥Upside-down house
Impressive but hard to describe, all I can say is that there are small chairs at the entrance for taking photos.
🌟Transportation: The road from Chiang Mai to Pai County is very winding, with 18 bends in the mountain road. It is recommended to take a local minibus to travel and not to ride a motorcycle by yourself, which is too dangerous. The one-way journey takes more than 3 hours.
🌟Accommodation: PAI County belongs to the kind of quiet small town, it is recommended to stay for a few nights, there are various good choices.
📍Notice: The entire town is surrounded by nature, so there are more mosquitoes. Sunscreen and mosquito repellent are equally important~
Santichon Village Pai
Nice experience and nice environment,no entrance fee.View is amazing especially during evening. The China Community isn’t big,but you get a nice feel of China coming here.there are few shops selling Chinese tea and few Chinese restaurants.Worth to visit
The Pai Memorial Bridge
Amazing place to visit.not a lot of scenery.Just a shallow river but it’s still has a sort of charm based on its history. It’s an old bridge built during WW2 in Pai.Worth to try.
Love strawberry Pai cafe
It’s good place to stop here for lunch before reach Pai town.Environment is nice and beautiful.Great view, good foods and price is very reasonable. So many sceneries around to take photo.worth to visit.Highly recommended.
Chill out in Pai!
I came here twenty years ago and it’s changed! Pai is a beautiful picturesque village with the gentle and meditative Pai river flowing by. It is set among some amazing mountains. It has a lot of tourists and you can find all the cuisine you want from all round the world, plus the local Thai fare at a good price. It definitely has a hippy vibe and is a great place to relax and enjoy..

Thailand Yunlai Observation Deck
#Thailand Attractions
The Yunlai Mountain area in Mae Hong Son, Pai County, Thailand is about 135 kilometers away from Chiang Mai. It is famous for viewing the sea of clouds (fog sea) and sunrise. It is definitely a scenic spot not to be missed when traveling to Thailand.
The Yunlai Viewing Platform, which is loved by couples, is an excellent viewing point for overlooking the panoramic view of the sea of clouds. It is located at the top of the Pai Chinese Village, about 1.4 kilometers from the center of the village.
This place is probably invested by Chinese. From the village to the observation deck, Chinese characters are everywhere. Local costumes are rented for tourists to take photos. There is also a cozy Chinese teahouse next to the observation deck.
There is a wooden viewing pavilion on the observation deck, with a lantern on both sides, a red heart in the middle, and the words "Yunlai" on the wooden beam.
I believe that when Chinese tourists flock here, being in Yunlai will feel like being in China. Because whatever you see or hear is in Chinese.
The only drawback is that the nearest hotel is nearly 7 kilometers away by car. Otherwise, if there is a hotel built on the observation deck, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the misty mountains from your room in the early morning.
If you want to spend the night here now, you can only bring your own tent, and of course you need to pay a small fee that is not high. #OverseasTravel #ThailandTravelStrategy #ThailandTravel2022 #ThailandTravel #ThailandTravelStrategy #ThailandTravel #ThailandPhotography #ThailandTravel #Mountain #SeaofClouds
scenic hiking routes with valley views
#gohiking
this is a very special place in Pai. first it’s one of the best place to watch sunset, lots of locals coming here to watch sunset. secondly, the road is not well paved yet the walk is very scenic and you can enjoy the stunning valley view as you walk around. it’s also free of charge, the hike itself could be challenging since the routes are not constructed well.
however it’s worth visiting
