The only courtyard-style hotel in Dali Ancient Town, a Zen-like tranquility
No. 1 Courtyard in Dali Ancient Town is ideally located inside the Boai Gate Ancient Town, just a 3-minute walk from the South Gate of the Ancient Town. Living here, I can go out easily every day and wander around the ancient city at will. Living in No. 1 Courtyard in Dali Ancient Town, I usually stay in the hotel in the morning and go out in the afternoon. After having breakfast at Tingfeng Restaurant, I would take a walk around the yard. I like sunny days, the light and shadows swaying in the hotel building courtyard is really beautiful.
This is the only courtyard-style hotel in the ancient city. It combines the styles of Bai folk houses and Huizhou architecture. It has a simple beauty, Chinese artistic conception, and the appearance of the courtyard and the sense of space are all very beautiful. The artistic conception is full of Zen and tranquility. Walking through the courtyard, the oncoming white, the shining sunlight, and the azure sky above your head set off each other and collide to create elegance.
There are many maple trees planted in the hotel, which decorate the courtyard with different colors in each season. The autumn wind brings a cool breeze, and the red maple leaves dye the white walls and gray tiles red. It is said that the hotel owner encountered blooming maple leaves during a trip and liked them so much that he planted them in the courtyard.
The trail outside the courtyard is planted with lavender. The purple color brings romance and has beautiful meanings. Faye Wong once lived in No. 1 Courtyard of Dali Ancient Town for a week. I found a photo of her leisurely going out on the Internet, and the background was this lavender-filled trail. On the trail, you can look up and see Cangshan Mountain. The veins of the mountain and the clouds on the top of the mountain are clearly visible.
The hotel's rooms also offer views of Cangshan Mountain, and almost every room has a terrace with a view. I like the one-bedroom courtyard here. It has a duplex space design, with a living room downstairs and a bedroom upstairs. It also has a small private balcony. When you open the window, the view of Cangshan Mountain comes into view, which is refreshing.
The bathtub in the one-bedroom courtyard is located in the courtyard downstairs. It has a very unique courtyard design with white sand and gray stone, and a dry landscape Zen style. In the courtyard, there are also cute little Buddha statues, which add elegance. Not only indoors, but also in the alleys of the outdoor courtyard, you can see many Buddha statues, all of which were collected by the hotel owner during his travels.
I personally like the courtyard feel of the hotel very much. When you open the curtains, the sunlight will fill the room. You can lie down and sit in your own yard and enjoy the sunshine and blue sky. While the space is private, it is also inclusive and open, allowing outdoor light to come in and allowing natural ventilation inside.
If you are a family traveler, you can choose the two-bedroom Maple Courtyard, two-bedroom Courtyard, three-bedroom Courtyard and other room types. They are large in area and come with spacious outdoor exclusive courtyards. Each is equipped with an independent bathroom, which is very suitable for small families or a whole family traveling together.
The overall style of the guest rooms is simple and quiet, which is consistent with the courtyard style of the entire hotel. The bed flags and pillows are tie-dyed blue, adding ethnic elements to the space. There is also a painting decoration on the wall, which actually contains a silk scarf. It is said to be from the same factory as Hermès. It is very beautiful and guests who like it can buy it.
The hotel's "Ting Feng" restaurant serves authentic Bai cuisine, including old Kunming cooking pots, old hen soup base, original flavor, accompanied by egg rolls, ham, luncheon meat, crispy pork, vermicelli, pork skin, carrots, tofu skin, day lily, etc. It is most popular in winter.
Now, No.1 Courtyard in Dali Ancient Town has been around for seven years and has been well maintained. Last year, all the carpets in the guest rooms were replaced, and this year all the air-conditioning equipment was updated to ensure a comfortable stay. The hotel is hidden in the bustling city, maintaining its tranquility and leisure. In Courtyard No. 1, the history and elegance of Dali Ancient City are at your fingertips.
